(More customer reviews)I'd thought about getting an inversion table for some time. I've had sciatic pain for years that had made it unbearable to spend more than a couple of minutes lying on my back..on any surface. It would start to feel as if I was lying on a rock, so I would have to lie on my side. My doctor said it was a small amount of degeneration in my hip...take 2-3 Aleve a day.
After reading many the reviews of these inversion tables, the whole concept of them seemed to make sense--a simplified form of spinal traction (which hospitals use), which would decompress (hopefully) any pinched nerves. I decided to take the plunge. Not wanting to spend a lot of money, since I wasn't sure would it work, I decided to buy this less expensive model.
It arrived in pieces, but my son and I were able to set it up in about 30 mins, in spite of the fact the instructions weren't easy to follow (just poorly drawn pictures).
After using it for about a week, my pain eased up . Then one day (about 2 weeks after using it a few minutes once a day) it dawned on me, that I had been lying on my back reading for about an hour, and I didn't have any pain! I've actually stopped using the Aleve, except for headaches. I'm thrilled that such a low- tech, easy to use item could cure my pain.
I use it every morning for a few minutes before I have breakfast. I'm not totally upside down, yet..I'm about half way there. I do some of the exercises on it, and I feel great! I highly recommend getting one if you have back or hip pain--you never know..it might just be your low-tech miracle!

Simply put, your body is turned upside down and gravity is used to work in the opposite direction that your body is used to. Instead of compressing your spine, your vertebrae are stretched out to relieve pressure on your disk. Many of the inversion table benefits are that inversion tables have also been known to help improve posture, reduce headaches, help reduce varicose veins and relieve stress.
