(More customer reviews)I got this from [...] on a Veteran's Day sale for less than $120, including shipping! I wanted something with a small footprint, and took a close look at the Stamina Ab/Hyper bench, but $149 was the cheapest I could find for that. The EF actually looks more like a Roman Chair, so when the EF went on sale for $29 less, I pulled the trigger. I ordered it on Monday morning, it got here Wednesday afternoon. It was fairly well packed, but one of the plastic chrome-plated end caps for the ankle cushions arrived broken. Don't care. It took about an hour, maybe an hour 15 minutes to assemble, and assembly was easy and straightforward. The parts are machined to pretty good tolerances, but not super precise. You will really need a socket set to tighten down those bolts, or the machine will wobble and shake. Once the bolts were tightened the way they should be, all wobble and shake was gone, and the machine is very solid. Only time will tell how durable the cushions are. Now the cons: If you are shorter than about 5 feet tall, or taller than 6 foot 2, you might not want this machine, because the horizontal distance between the seat cushions and the ankle support cushions is NOT adjustable. To get that adjustability, you will want to pay about $250 for a Powertec, BodyCraft, or similar machine. The EF4429 also sits a little lower to the floor than what you might be used to at the gym. My seat cushions are 34 inches off the floor, and I could easily see a tall person (6 foot 3 or more) actually hitting their head on the floor at full contraction. I gave it four stars for these reasons, but for my personal situation, it's a five star machine. If you are a medium-sized person, I see little point in spending more money, this is a great value.

Whether your goal is a long lean torso, chiseled well-defined abdominal muscles, a better posture or the elimination/prevention of back pain, the EF-4429 will help you meet any of these objectives. The EF-4429 is a high quality roman chair with a high weight capacity. While you can perform a variety of exercises on this one machine, the main exercises are back extensions and abdominal crunches. Back extensions are done lying face down while abdominal crunches are performed sitting face up. Both require your torso to be resting on the dual chest/hip pads and your lower legs securely braced around the 4 adjustable foam rollers. There are widely angled handles mounted beneath the chest/hip pads that aid in positioning yourself properly on the EF-4429 as well as serve as a safety feature to steady yourself should you exhaust during a workout. The dual chest/hip pads allow for users of various hip widths to use the unit with comfort while not sacrificing stability or functionality. The ankle pads are adjustable to multiple positions with the spring loaded pin on the rear of the unit. This will accommodate individuals of various heights or leg lengths.
