This is a perfect base layer for cycling. With this and a cycling jacket I'm comfortable down the mid 30s. I'm always warm but never get hot as I warm up and sweat. I just adjust the jacket zipper from all the way up to about 1/4 unzipped and I'm comfortable from freezing up to about 55. I also wear it to CrossFit on cold days if I'll be running outside - keeps me from freezing and I don't die once I'm back inside. It's soft enough to wear against the skin - it doesn't itch or scratch. Once you wear wool you won't go without it.
Another feature - it doesn't stink! I commute on my bike - this thing will be soaked with sweat by the time I arrive - I just hang it up and in an hour it's dry and doesn't smell at all when I put it on in the afternoon and I can get by without a shower. It's amazing.
I machine wash this and lay flat to dry - it looks brand new after many trips through the laundry.
