Maybe the negative reviewer got a bad pair. Mine were waterproof through weeks of rain this fall, and are good well below zero° F, as long as you use chemical hand or foot warmers. Above 10°F they are good with thick wool socks and neoprene booties. Above 20°F you don't need the booties. Buy a size and a half larger to accommodate a good pair of heavy socks and still give you airspace. The shoes are warranteed for a year (so call Lake if yours leak,) and the Boa ratcheting system is warranteed forever. When I did break a rachet on a Friday, I had a couple (improved model) total Boa system replacements by mail on the following Monday at no cost to me. See Boa's website. The shoes were still usable in the meantime. They are comfortable, light, and well made. Like!

The eVent waterproof upper remains breathable, while the stretch-to-fit neoprene collar provides added comfort and flexibility. The sturdy Lake Race sole with Mountain Race X real rubber and mudstuds provide security during inclement weather. An additional benefit includes a side mounted push/pull BOA lacing system with powerzone in the forfoot.
