Ive tried everything. Regular Camelbacks, race belts, etc. This is the best solution so far in terms of comfort.
Now, it is most appropriate for winter adventures. It would obviously be too warm to use in the summer. However, it will be my hydration source of choice for my upcoming ultra-marathon up Mount Mitchell. Everything stays warm so no risk of freezing, which is a major issue even with water bottles if the temperature is below 20F and you are outside for very long.
I only paid $40 as I purchased after peak season. Great product. Comfortable. Does make some sloshing noises, but doesn't bounce around or cause shoulder irritation like a back pack.
So, for skiing, winter running, or even winter biking where freezing water bottles is an issue, this is highly recommended!

Hydration meets fashion, with high-performance results. Keeping thirst at bay on the slopes just got a little easier--no trip to the lodge for over-priced bottled water required. CamelBak’s new ShredBak Hyrdation Pack is a first in the category--a hydration system seamlessly integrated into an attractive mid-layer fleece vest. A form-fitting mesh inner layer keeps the Omega water reservoir close enough to your body to prevent freezing, while the fleece outer layer keeps you toasty warm on the lift and allows sufficient range of motion while cutting fresh tracks on the mountain. The vest’s chest pocket allows easy access to the bite valve for quick drinks, and the insulated water tube cover keeps the liquid flowing. The soft shell vest can also be worn separately when relaxing at the end of the day.
About CamelBak CamelBak is the originator and world leader in hands-free hydration systems. The first CamelBak products proved to be very popular among mountain bikers and motocross riders, because it allowed them to drink without taking their hands off of the handlebars in technical terrain. The product began to cross over into other sports when scientific studies showed athletes drank more fluids and performed better when they wore a CamelBak. Since then, athletes from an ever-growing list of sports and activities use CamelBak hydration systems for their convenience and performance benefits.
In addition to cycling, CamelBak has Hands-Free Hydration systems for hiking, running, snowboarding and skiing. CamelBak’s state-of-the-art packs and hydration systems have benefited athletes, outdoorsmen, and soldiers around the world. While CamelBak has grown tremendously since the early days, one thing hasn't changed: CamelBak still believes in the performance advantage that proper hydration delivers for just about any activity. The privately-held company is headquartered in Petaluma, California.
