(More customer reviews)I have had my Core for less than a year and have had to send it in for repairs 4 times. The pins that hold the band to the watch are weak and come undone and fall out frequently. I finally convinced Suunto to send me spare pins, and I secured them myself. I have twice had to send it in for button failures, and now for a display failure.
Suunto has always replaced the watch, but it is a tedious process of creating a service order and mailing it in. That means no wathc for a few weeks. I am currently in Iraq and will have to mail it to someone in the US to ship to handle as Suunto will not take it from here.
There are few differences between the Core and the Vector. The storm alarm is fairly worthless, and will drive you nuts going off when the A/C turns on in the house. The sunrise/sunset feature is cute.
My suggestion is to stick with the Suunto Vector. It will hold up much better.

Snorkeling: Head into the surf and the Suunto Core shifts from air to water pressure, providing accurate depth readings to 30 feet.
