Century Bob Body Opponent Bag Review

Century Bob Body Opponent Bag

I'm not too big on free standing punching bags but the BOB is something special, a separate class all it's own. The rubber skin more closely emulates punching a real person than a regular heavy bag. It is comfortable to strike for long periods of time without requiring hand protection yet holds up to serious abuse from fists, feet, elbows, knees, or whatever you want to hit it with. Furthermore, the human-like shape really facilitates targeting. If you are purely a traditionalist you'll probably want a makiwara (striking post). If you're willing to embrace the best in a modern training tool, however, this mannequin bag makes a great investment. There are some really good BOB workouts in books like Loren Christensen's "Solo Training 2: The Martial Artist's Guide to Building the Core for Stronger, Faster and More Effective Grappling, Kicking and Punching." This is a fantastic training tool for any martial artist.

Cornerman Punching Bag Stand Review

I don't normally write reviews like this, but I was looking at this stand for a while and searched all over the place for reviews for it and couldn't find a whole lot. So to anyone out there that is wondering about this heavybag stand, it is AWESOME. Yeah its a little expensive compared to most, but if you're looking for something like I was that doesnt have legs that get in the way and can support a lot of weight or a tall bag (I have a 6ft 100-120lb bag), this thing does the job perfectly. Its pretty big, but it is very sturdy, and works great if you dont want to put holes in your ceiling and hang a huge bag from it. Overall very satisfied, would definitely recommend it.

TKO Heavy Bag Stand Set Review

Best set Ive seen for the price. You really need something to anchor it down though. the speed bag set up is cheap but if you can work this speed bag by the time you upgrade to a nicer one you will be a pro because if you dont hit it just right its going to go everywhere. It actually got to my house in like 4 days a day before it was scheduled. But not bad overall.

Century® Body Opponent Bag (BOB) Review

Century® Body Opponent Bag (BOB)

I can't use this product as often as I thought I would.
First, the plastic frame in which the body is bolted on to makes a lot of noise during the workout
making me costantly worry about my neighbors especially if I want to work out at late hours. Second,
I filled the base with water and yes, it is very heavy.... However, if you put this on a carpet or
a pad with less than heavy friction surface, the whole thing will move backwards everytime you beat
at it. Even if you put it on a concrete surface, it will rock back and forth every time you punch on
it and eventually you will find it moved all the way to the wall.
So, unless you fill the base with sand, do not live in an apartment with "I go to bed at 9" neighbors
and plan to stage this equipment on a good friction surface....... I do not recommend this product.

I have been a chinese martial arts and kickboxing practitioner for around 5 years now and I bought this bag to use at home for combo drills and workouts. I guess I should have seen it coming but the stand snapped just above the base during my second workout. I train to generate power which means I don't tap the bag, I actually hit it. So if you plan to use the bag for anything other than basic cardio work, don't bother.

This is a good size and weight for practicing judo. I can also practice clinch-work as well and ground and pound and some submission work. I have been pleased in the use for the first month of having the product. The clinch work was a nice suprise bonus

This was just what I was looking for for at home workouts. I am only 5'3" and 115lbs. With the base filled with sand, it barely moves when I kick it. A larger person would probably have much more trouble with movement.

Century Original Hydrocore Wave Bags Review

After going through a cheaper bag (all the sand and filling settled on the bottom making it dangerously solid) I went on the hunt for something else. I'm about 270, and I needed a big bag that could stand up to both punches and kicks. This seemed to fit the bill, but I never worked out on a water bag. I gambled and got this through Amazon (via Sportsmans guide). It's a VERY simple design, and I honestly can't see how it would ever break down. The "core" is a big heavy gauge plastic cylinder with a screw top; it's about the size of a small scuba tank. There is one layer of very dense uniform foam around this, and that's it. The cover is a little slick, but it too looks bombproof. Word to the wise: IF YOU GET A BAG LIKE THIS, DON'T FILL THE CORE TO THE VERY TIPPY TOP, WHEN YOU STRIKE THE BAG THE CORE COMPRESSES AND THE WATER HAS NO PLACE TO GO AND YOU COULD CONCEIVABLY CAUSE A RUPTURE. You only have to leave three inches or so to guarantee no problem. As far as working out on it, I like it. It is a little different from a traditional bag. Whereas a traditional bag feels more like "dead" weight, this bag has quite a bit of "life" to it. Again, not necessarily a bad thing, but different. The best part of this bag is knowing that each impact is a little less jarring and virtually any spot you hit the bag (with the exception of the very top and very bottom) has uniform resistance. All in all, I expect this to be the last heavy bag I'll ever need to own, there will always be others in the gym though ;-) {{this review is for the 120lb XL, but the 80?lb L is identical in design}}

I have owned this item for about 5 years and it is still going strong. I use it for about 20-45 mins/ day about 4-5 times per week.
Bare knuckle or with gloves. I primarily do boxing workouts but it has seen its fair share of kicks, knees and elbows and never seen a tear or a worn spot.
The padding is about 4" thick and beneath is a solid plastic ring that alows you to adjust the height. This is also what keeps it from getting worn spots like a regular punching bag.
I used to work out at a friends house who had a 40lb everlast hanging bag and after a few months we tore it and had to hold it together with duct tape, which made us all sticky after every workout.
You can fill the base with water or sand, i have never filled it up all the way, but its pretty stable. If you cant use a hose and have it inside i made a funnel by cutting the bottom off of a 2 liter coke bottle and running back and forth to the bath tub with milk jugs.
Great product for anyone not wanting to drill holes in their ceiling to hang a regular punching bag.
