A personal trainer friend introduced me to this product and I loved it so much I had to get one for myself! It's so easy to use and it really works you out! I've tried the Essential Flexibility DVD that it came with and boy did that stretch me out! I will most likely also buy the metal anchor and the DVD that works out your back (for my husband who has back issues).

TRX Suspension Trainer Professional Review

I first used the TRX Professional at my gym (with a personal trainer) and was happy with the results and convenience. I decided to purchase my own TRX for home use on those days when I can't make it to the gym.
I purchased my TRX directly from Fitness Anywhere and was surprised that, after about a year of infrequent use, the right cam buckle started to slip. A brief internet search and a review of some of the reviews here on Amazon shows that other customers have experienced the same issue (cam buckle slippage). This is not only problematic because of the cost and promised quality of the item, but because it's dangerous; I fell to the floor when the cam recently suddenly slipped in the middle of a rep.
When I contacted Fitness Anywhere to inquire about simply replacing the defective buckle (a presumably inexpensive replacement part which I would have paid for), they responded that my product must be counterfeit. When I replied that I'd ordered it from them and gave the order number, they responded that my product was outside the one-year warranty period and that they would not replace it. They then offered me a paltry 20% discount on a new unit, though I'm not sure why anyone would spend nearly $200 on a product that may or may not be as defective as the first.
For the record, it sounds as if at least one other Amazon customer with a two-year-old TRX with defective cam-buckle actually received a replacement from Fitness Anywhere. I've written to them once more and asked them to at least be consistent with their treatment of other customers, and hope they will take a look at a picture of the defective buckle on my unit. But based on their responses so far, I am not hopeful. I should note that I have made three purchases from Fitness Anywhere in as many years and have widely recommended the unit. I'd have hoped that Fitness Anywhere would treat loyal customers better and I recommend any potential customers consider this information before spending hundreds of dollars on anything this company sells.
I will post more information about their response once the issue is (or is not) resolved.

I was in the military and the gym on base had a few sets of TRX's that you could use. I don't like lifting weights on a regular basis, every now and then is fine to gauge where you are at, but ultimately I feel body weight workouts will get you in better overall shape.
I added the TRX to my workout and noticed my stabilizer muscles were being heavily recruited and I thought I had trained them enough already. I was WRONG. The TRX system delivers its promise of being durable, portable and effective.
I used it a good bit and then when I wanted my own set I found out how expensive they were and started looking for alternatives.
I ended up with finding some nylon straps at my local Home Depot that are about 2" wide and can withstand up to 5,400 lbs of tension. I've used some stiff garden hose for handles, but I know people have used PVC pipe as well. I've made two sets; One with grommets placed 6" apart all down the webbing, and then another pair that are marked every 6" with a black line and you just wrap the remaining length around your anchor point. Both sets have the 6" sections numbered starting with '1' at the bottom grommet/line and increasing the numbers as you go up the length of webbing.
For attaching them to doors I found that using a carabiner wrapped in something soft (cloth, old wet suit material, etc.) and then tapped up are pretty decent and don't damage doors. The pair without grommets I just tie a knot in the end of the line, or wherever I need the knot, and close the door on it.
I haven't noticed anything wrong with the set with grommets, but I suspect that adding the grommets has reduced the tension resistance to a certain degree, thus the extra pair without the grommets.
A home made kit might run you $15-30 depending on your resources and scrounging ability
I was pleased with the system, but I can not see how they justify the prices. Also I can not find anything on their website saying where their product materials come from or where the manufacturing takes place. I would hope something developed by a Navy SEAL would try to keep as much of their product assembled and built by Americans. No offense to the rest of the world's nations of course.

Just received my TRX. The one thing that tripped me up is the description of "bonus in box" workouts. I thought I was getting two more DVD's which helped me to justify the $60 increase in price over the original model. Alas, bonus in box means you cut two workouts off the cardboard box to read. They are not DVD's.

About Fitness Anywhere Creator of the Suspension Training workout, Fitness Anywhere delivers world-class training products for serious athletes, fitness professionals, first responders, and the U.S. military. Fitness Anywhere owes its roots and ongoing drive to the U.S. Navy SEAL teams, which began developing innovative workouts out of necessity. Company founder Randy Hetrick and his SEAL teammates searched for ways to stay in peak physical condition while stashed away in missions in a variety of locations, from wharf-side warehouses to urban safehouses to ships and submarines. Hetrick used this experience to develop the prototype of the TRX Suspension Trainer. The original TRX was a training harness--a few lengths of parachute webbing hand-stitched together by boat repair tools. Almost immediately, Hetrick and his teammates put the TRX to use and created the first dozen exercises. In the weeks and months that followed, the breadth of original bodyweight exercises grew and the harness evolved, gradually becoming the complete field training system being offered today. Fitness Anywhere is headquartered in San Francisco.

As an avid gym-rat who gets a little twitchy when he misses a workout, I was looking for something I could use to get a good strength training workout while traveling on vacation or for work. The personal trainers at our gym introduced me to the TRX system and I ordered one to give it a try.
In the few short weeks I've owned it, I have been able to take the TRX Home Training Bundle on a camping trip, on a business trip, and to work with me for a 2-day IT system crash event.
While camping I was able to use trees and the rafters in a pavilion to support the TRX system, and found both made easy platforms for great workouts. At hotels and while trapped at work for two days, I was able to use the door mount to sneak in some workouts, and I found that platform to be stable as well.
So it seems to me you can almost always find a place to mount the TRX system, as long as you exercise a little common sense about doing so safely. And once it's mounted securely, the TRX system is quite versatile, and allowed me to perform many exercises to get a completely taxing strength workout. The system is simple to use and well-marked for making quick changes between exercises. For the configurations that are less intuitive, the included book provides good illustrations, tips, and tricks.
The only reason I withheld a 5th star on this review is because of the way the TRX system is constructed. The materials and workmanship seem solid to me. But the product is finished in such a way that very little of the system is modular. That is to say, if you were ever to wear out a pad on one of the handles, replacing it would require a lot of craftsmanship, not just a simple swap-out. So I expect that needing to replace any component on the TRX system would likely be met with having to replace the whole kit and kaboodle. I think a modular design would allow me to be more aggressive with the unit while making me comfortable I could replace parts fairly inexpensively. ('Cause let's face it, nearly $200 for nylon and ingenuity is pushing it anyway).
