I came across this while I was looking for plyo boxes so that I could use it for my work outs. I spent most of the morning trying to find a cheap plyo box, but I think all the manufactures are competing against each other to see who could sell a wooden box for the most money, and then adding another hundred bucks to ship it. It was driving me crazy. Goggling Plyo boxes and cross fit, I was able to find instructions on how to build your own which would have been awesome for me if I had the tools to cut the wood. After a little more searching I came across this platform that can be used with your power rack. I was getting excited because I do have a power rack and it was an idea that I didn't even consider. Unlike the plyo boxes, this system would be adjustable to different heights, how can you beat this. The problem is that power racks are not all built the same; this is going to only work with a limited few. Even though I this wouldn't work with my power rack and I was not willing to shell out 300.00 bucks for it, it did give me the idea of building my own. I wanted cheap but sturdy so I used wood instead of metal. I bought some wood from the local hardware store and they cut it up to my requirements at no extra cost (Thanks, ACE of Havelock). After maybe 30 minutes I had my very own platform to use in my workouts. And it only cost me roughly 25 bucks. I used a 12 ft long 2x6 and had two pieces cut out of it long enough to lay a little bit over the safety rails. For mine it came out to 4.5 ft. I also bought another piece of lumber probably ½ x 1 about 8 ft long. I had this cut into 11 inch sections and used them under the platform to fit around the safety rails to keep it secure while I'm stepping on it. I would suggest using 1x1 for a better fit. After I was completed I was going back to the store to look for nonskid paint or whatever to put on top of the platform for a secure footing. I ended up cutting up two extra rubber tile squares from my floor mat and glued them onto the platform.
