(More customer reviews)OK... I haven't seen any reviews for this rack, so I thought I would write one and spare you all the hassle of owning it and going through what I went through...
Let me start off by saying that this is a really cool design, and it would def be a nice rack IF it worked as shown in the video, BUT it doesn't!! Every time the temp would get above the 80s my rack would NOT "slide" on and off the base. In fact, it was very hard to get on and off... and was often stuck for an extended period of time and I could not get into my trunk! Talk about a PAIN!! I actually had the company I ordered it from send out a new receiver part thinking mine was defective... It worked fine for about a week UNTIL the temp went up again. I'm not a scientist, but I'm guessing the plastic expands in the heat???
If you buy this rack and you live anywhere that experiences a humid summer season be prepared to 'fight' with it to get it on and off. I'm talking full body weight leaning on it practically jumping up and down to get it on... and then not even being able to get it off. IT'S MORE OF A WORKOUT THAN RIDING THE BIKE!
I eventually returned it (fully assembled because I could not get it apart) for a new rack. BUMMER!!

Saris Bones RS 3-Bike Trunk Mount Rack Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this rack to haul my bike around. I drive a Cadillac CTS-v. The rack works as Saris markets. I have not hauled three bikes but have done two. No problems what so ever. The rack secures nicely to my trunk lid. The fit is a little awkward as the suction cup brace things don't fit well on the edge of my trunk lid BUT the rack still secures nicely - doesn't move around, doesn't damage the pain, doesn't bend or scratch the trunk lid.
One thing that was not mentioned in the instructions is the fact that the front wheel kind of swings (from the unrestricted turning of the bars and wheel) back and forth in the wind. I used a small bungee cord to tie the front wheel to the rack. This isn't a big deal and the wheel wasn't turning back and forth to much but I simply want everything solidly attached and not moving. Plus if for some reason my skewer decided to vibrate loose and let my $400 front wheel fall from the bike, the bungee will hold on to it. - probably a bit over protective on my part.
Overall this rack is nice. The locking straps work great and the key really does as advertised. They have plenty of torque with the ratchet system so be careful not to over tighten. The bike is very stable once strapped in. The straps themselves are VERY easy to secure and to release. Installing the rack on the car took a little effort the first time. Now it takes all of 30 seconds - 45 seconds if I lock the straps. Taking it off consists of giving the straps some slack and then simply removing the rack from the car. Literally it takes 15-30 seconds to remove it from the car. You can open the trunk with the rack on. You may have to assist it when you hit the "pop trunk button" but opening the trunk is no problem - obviously don't try to open the trunk with a bike on the rack.
Great rack overall. I would highly recommend this rack!

One of the annoyances with trunk-mounted racks has always been the straps. With the Saris Bones RS 3-Bike Trunk Mount Rack, the straps have been eliminated. In their place is a ratcheting system with rubber-coated clips and steel-belted bands for a quick, secure fit on a wide variety of vehicles, including sedans and minivans. Thule 958 Parkway 2-Bike Hitch Mount Rack (2-Inch Receiver) Review

(More customer reviews)This product works well, but if you plan to keep your bikes secure you will have to make some changes. First of all, if you build it according to the manufacturer's instructions, your bikes can be stolen easily. This product offers ZERO security, making it useless if you plan to stop somewhere before you take the bikes off the rack. The pin is a joke, the system requires the user to literally bolt the rack to the hitch, which is totally impractical, furthermore anyone with a wrench can steal both your bikes and your bike rack. In order to secure the rack to the car, I drilled out the threads making the hole larger so it could accept a lockable pin which would secure the bike rack to our vehicle. Given the thickness of the metal, I had to invest in a $45 drill bit, making this bike rack much more expensive.
If security is not an issue for you, then by all means this bike rack will work for you, I don't think that the pin that holds the rack to the hitch will hold up, so that part earns a zero on this end. If you plan to leave your bikes un-attended, then this bike rack is not a good buy and I strongly recommend not making the investment.

Thule 961XT Speedway 2-Bike Trunk Rack Review

(More customer reviews)I've used this bike rack for over 10,000 miles across the U.S., on two sedans and one SUV. It's always been secure and rock solid (tried only one bike) at every speed I've driven, ranging from highways to gravel roads in all weather. It is an effective bike carrier and I do recommend it. There are some minor pitfalls though.
The mounting is tricky, with any car. It took me 40 minutes the first time, now I can do it in 15, ensuring everything's good. The documentation isn't terribly clear either because the actual mounting is a nonlinear process. You'll need to factor the rack mounting into your "getting ready" time. Tying up excess length on the straps is troublesome; you'll probably be rolling them up and taping them together. So you'll need tape with this rack. Last, its two screwknobs are easily lost and the product could have well been designed with a better mechanism for adjusting the rack to fit other cars. These are minor though, and the rack does carry a bike quite well.
Things to note about trunk racks in general:
They're easy theft targets; at the end of the day, the canvas straps can be cut and the whole assembly stolen. This is acceptable for driving and stopping along an interstate, but not for sitting in the Ikea lot all day. Mounting the rack also renders the trunk inaccessible, entailing some foresight when loading the car for a multi-stop trip.

I got the 3 bike rack even though I have 2 bikes just to make sure I had enough room between the bikes. Easy to install, but one caveat - make sure you do NOT tighten the locking knobs for each leg too tightly or you will strip them and they will be a little loose - not a huge problem, but for peace of mind you want them snug and not loose.
I can also say this for Saris - EXCELLENT customer service. I called to get some replacement knobs, and an extra stabilizer strap since my bike is an oddball and needed an extra length of strap to secure the seat-post tube. I was expecting (and had no problem with) paying for these items. Guess what? No charge - very nice and quick shipping.
