Extreme Max 5200.2018 E-Cycle Grey / Yellow All Aluminum Hybrid Bike Review

Extreme Max 5200.2018 E-Cycle Grey / Yellow All Aluminum Hybrid Bike
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this as I wanted to ride a bicycle for enjoyment but I have bad legs so I can't ride to far. When it arrived the box was slightly damaged on the corners. When I opened it I found the seat and the seat reflector was damaged. I contacted the manufacturer Extreme Max Products and asked them for a replacement seat and reflector which they said they would send out ASAP. While I did receive the new seat a week later but not the reflector. So I'm waiting to hear on that. Anyway here is the run-down on this bike:
The instuctrion manual was printed in China so the wording is not that good but its understandable. The pictures are very poor quality. I also asked Extreme Max about the manual and they were kind enough to send me a PDF file of the same manual with much better pictures and instructions.
The bike is fairly easy to put together, took less then one hour. You have to charge the battery the first time for about 8 hours but the manual says after that charging should take about 4 hours which from what I have seen is about true.
The bike seat is very high even at it's lowest setting. My wife who is only 5ft tall can't get on the bike. I am 5'11" and able to get on but it's not easy. The handle-bar is a bit low even at the highest setting especially when the seat is so high. What I did was I cut the bicycle seat post about 3 inches with a circular saw and that seems to help. My knees are just below the handle-bar when I pedal. So if you are over 6 ft tall you might not fit on this bike, like-wise if you are 5ft or smaller.
It rides very well. Like most electric bikes it has three options:
1)pedal like a normal bike ( it's unfortunitly not too easy if you are used to a bike with speeds. As it feels like it's on 1 speed setting so you don't get too far just using the pedal)
2) Pedal-Assist which is very good. You start to pedal then the motor kicks in then after a few yards you have to pedal again.
3) Scooter mode- you just use the motor. Its quiet and you go pretty fast.
The bike is fold-able for storage or transport and is not too difficult to do.
The battery can be charged either in the bike or taken out. Either way they warn you in the manual you MUST shut the electric ignition off first! It comes with two keys both are needed for the electric motor. They are not needed if you just use the pedal like an ordinary bike.
Riding the bike is a little squeaky at times and you need to make sure every bolt and nut is fasten VERY tight. They do give you a tool-box purse which I think it pretty neat. It comes with a screw driver, fuses for the battery and other tools that you need to put the bike together. by the way on the subject of fuses. They don't even mention this in the manual but the battery needs a fuse and you must put one in before you are able to use it. I charged the battery my first time 8-9 hours and nothing happened. I thought the bike was dead then I figured out that the battery needed the fuse. They give you about 4 fuses in the tool purse and they look like ordinary fuses that most likely can be bought at a local hardware store.
Overall I am very happy with the bike considering it's low price tag as many electric bikes go over $1000!

The all-new Matrix is a versatile bike that will take on anything you throw at it. Drop it down on the nastiest potholed roads and the hydraulically-damped fork smooths everything out. On tarmac, lock out the fork and you can hammer away efficiently. Slap some knobbies on and you can even take the Matrix off-road. For 2008, we?ve given the Matrix a brand new frame featuring LockJaw folding hinges: when locked down, the hinges are incredibly strong but virtually invisible so nobody will even know you?re on a folding bike. by dahon.

New Dahon Mariner D7 Review

I use this bike on my daily commute from New Jersey to Connecticut. I think it would be fair to say that this makes the trip from NY Penn to Grand Central Station faster than any other form of transporation including taxi and subway. I honestly don't know if I could do my commute without this bike.
As a person who's rode their fair share of bikes, I can honestly say that this thing is built to last. I've hit quite a number of potholes and uneaven pavement and have never felt like it was too uncomfortable. I've also dropped it a number of times and the worst that has ever happened is the chain has come off the gears and i've had to reset it by hand. Nothing out of the ordinary.
If I HAD to gripe about soemthing, it would be the ease at which it can be rolled around while collapsed. You can leave the seat extended and roll it balanced on one tire, but if you try and roll it on both tires in this way it's off balance. It's also slightly heavy to carry around for long distances. It's fine to run up and down stairs or through a train station, but anything more than that and you might feel some fatigue. But hey, if it's a longer trip than that, you should be riding it anyway.
Pros:
Quick and easy folding system. (I'm down to about 20 seconds to break it down)
Comfortable ride.
Works great as a portable seat when folded up.
Fits perfectly under a standard desk.
Having the extra gears (compaired to a 3 gear models) really comes in handy going up and down hills
Great conversation starter. If you ride this daily, people WILL come right up to you and ask you about it.
It's a beautifully designed bike. Very pleasing to the eye.
Chicks dig it.
Cons:
Slightly heavy, but it's cheaper than the titanium models. So that's to be expected.
Could have better balanced when rolling it around while folded.
People WILL come up to you and ask you about it. Sometimes even waking you up while you're napping on the train.
Using it daily will require that you semi-frequetly top off the tires. Say twice a month.

I had a nice bike a few years ago that was stolen, so imagine my surprise when my wife purchased this bike for me.
The first thing I noticed was that the bike was flat black. The second thing I noticed was how small this bike was in it's folded position.
The only thing I didn't love was the price. I wanted to take it back, however, there is a saying; "you get what you pay for." While I wouldn't pay $599 for a bike, the place where she purchased this bike offers lifetime repairs, free flat repairs and some other bonuses. In three years this bike will pay for itself.

New BOARDWALK S1 DAHON LICENSED TECHNOLOGY Review

New BOARDWALK S1 DAHON LICENSED TECHNOLOGY
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am a bike racer and mechanic. The S-1 is an awesome urban bike. The weight mentioned by another reviewer is an advantage, not a disadvantage, as this bike's chromemolly frame is virtually indestructible. The weight represents quality construction, and allows this bike to be ridden over potholes at 30mph downhill without breaking, day after day. You can literally throw it in an suv, and never worry about damaging it. The single speed makes riding it ultra-simple, and you get a GREAT workout when pedaling. Ultra-stable and a joy to ride.
If you want multispeeds or less weight, choose a newer Dahon, but if you want ultra-reliability and utility, this bike can't be beat. And at this price, you can't go wrong.
I motorize these bikes, and have never had a frame failure after 12,000 miles and 3 years on the same bike.
I hope Dahon keeps making them forever.
Awesome, ultra-tough bike !

Light & Motion Seca 400 Bike Light Review

Light and Motion Seca 400 Bike Light
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the Seca 400 for use on a bicycle I use for commuting to/from work three days a week. Since I leave very early to avoid the worst traffic, quite a bit of my riding is at night. There are also very dark sections of my 9-mile ride to work.
At full power, the 400 lumens of light output allows you to fully illuminate the road ahead - much like a car's headlights. I use the full power setting on the darkest sections of my ride.
At medium power, 200 lumens is still very bright and useful. Most of my riding is at this power setting since I want a reserve of battery energy when I ride home in the winter (which lands me in the dark WITH heavy vehicular traffic).
Even at low power, 100 lumens provides good illumination.
During daylight hours I'll use the flash setting to maximize my visibility.
This is a great light with a small battery pack and a very easy to use mounting system that holds well even through the worst bumps on the road.
I don't believe, however, that most bike commuters would ever need more than 400 lumens on the road so this light vs. the Seca 700 is probably a better choice for commuters.

Oakley Men's Jawbone Polarized Sunglasses Review

Oakley Men's Jawbone Polarized Sunglasses
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am a life long Oakley sunglass wearer and I recently decided to upgrade my current pair of half jackets. I was debating on flak jackets but after going to the store and trying on the Jawbones I was convinced. Well worth the extra money. I opted for the polarized Polished Black Frame/Red & Persimmon Lens. I was a little nervous about the red polarized lens because my eyes are very light sensitive and given the 18% light transmission i thought it might not block enough light. I usually wear the dark gray polarized lenses on my half jackets that only have 10% transmission. The red lenses are great and block plenty of light so that on bright days i am not bothered by the sunlight and the newest Oakley lenses are spectacular with the clarity of the High Definition Optics. The polarized are great at blocking unwanted glare as well. They also come with the second lenses that I have not tried yet but look good for neutral situations. The jawbones are unbelievably comfortable, even much better than the half and flak jackets. They also have more complete coverage with larger lenses than the previously mentioned sunglasses. I still wear my half jackets occasionally but the Jawbones are well worth the money and I could not be happier with my purchase. To boot they also come with a very nice hard case to keep them well protected.

Oakley\'s legacy of sports performance innovation continues with the new Jawbone. The latest evolution of a coveted design, this frame is like nothing ever seen in the world of sports. Every aspect is engineered around the clarity and protection of High Definition Optics (HDO®). With Oakley\'s new Switchlock Technology, the lower part of the frame rim opens to allow easy access for quick lens changing, letting you optimize performance in any light condition. The revolutionary design holds the lenses with a suspension system so stresses on the frame won\'t affect the optics. The new architecture ensures there\'s nothing to diminish the unbeatable clarity of High Definition Optics(HDO®), and you still get the optimized comfort and fit of a flexible frame design. Oakley engineered a pivoting system with a release mechanism that lets you remove and replace the nose piece with a different size to customize the fit. Instead of hooking the ears like conventional frames, a Three-Point Fit ensures the frame touches the wearer only at the bridge of the nose and the sides of the head. They also combined the proprietary fit with specialized bridge geometry and strategically placed flex zones to give the frame a broad range of flexibility while directing stresses away from the lenses. That way, the optics can do their job without the distortion of subtle bending and bowing.

LifeGear Magnetic Recumbent Bike Review

First off, thanks to the other reviewers for the assembly tips. My assembly time was approximately one and a half hours. The only thing I'd add (which may seem obvious to some) is to not rely on the tools included with the bike. You will definately want a ratchet wrench. I also had none of the problems with the seats needing extra washers.
As for the bike itself, I love how quiet it is. I just finished a session while watching one of the AFC playoff games and didn't feel the need to adjust the volume on my television. The computer seems to work pretty well and because my eyesight isn't what it used to be, the large display is much appreciated.
My only concern is that the seat could be a little more comfortable. But I bought this thing to exercise, not lounge, so for it's purpose it's adequate. All in all, a very decent product.

About Recumbent Exercise Bikes Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out.
The term recumbent literally means "lying down." Exercising in a recumbent or reclining position allows the user to have full ergonomic back support, without causing strain on the arms, neck and shoulders, all of which can be common effects of using an upright bicycle. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

Oakley Men's Radar Pitch Sunglasses Review

Oakley Men's Radar Pitch Sunglasses
Average Reviews:

I was looking for jogging and exercise shades that would not fog, and functioned first, but did not make me look like an, "Oakley Blade Shade 80's Turd". And as the Radar Pitch are award winning for both my goals, and advertised a smaller blade size than the ol' giant and very retarded looking M-Blades (with aforementioned nickname that is preceded by hearty laughs by all with any "contemporary style sense" when viewing someone wearing them now). Well, they are smaller, yes. But not by enough to remove yourself from the second glance that you may be one of those 80's turds. Yes-yes, even while riding your bicycle on road or not, or busting an air, getting agro, or chillin' out at the local cafe afterwards -- still a turd!
I ordered mine, opened them, put them on, and, "gulp"! Listen, I am no sudo style pro or metro-esque slave to fashion, but these still emote the, "I play left field for the Cleveland Indians with a big chaw in my cheek" look! And I have a large face and head, but apparently not large enough to make these look smaller than the ridiculous M's as I had hoped! I sent mine back, and went to my local shades shop to try various other Oakley's (as their weight and anti-fog left me to still be loyal when it comes to sports shades when adding to my twenty shade quiver from Maui Jim's to Oliver Peoples).
After going and trying various styles, I immediately settled for the Half Jacket XLJ's (yes not the newer more expensive version - as the lens curling up just fits awesome and they are only about $100 on Amazon now too vs over $200!), and came back to order them on Amazon for $79.99 here on Amazon in rootbeer frame with gold lenses, and saved over $100, and now after using them love them 100%! No fogging, light as air, and I won't scare off the opposite sex by looking like I am early for halloweeen by dressing up as Robocop!
Cheers!

Dahon Speed TR 2008 Review

Dahon Speed TR 2008
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME PURCHASING A FOLDING BICYCLE, SO I DID A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET TO COMPARE DIFFERENT BRANDS, MODELS, AND SPECIFICATIONS. I FINALLY DECIDED ON THE DAHON SPEED TR AND AND AM VERY HAPPY WITH IT AFTER ALMOST TWO MONTHS OF USE. WHETHER THIS IS THE BICYCLE FOR YOU WILL DEPEND A GREAT DEAL ON WHAT YOU WANT TO USE IT FOR. I HAD A VERY SPECIFIC REASON FOR WANTING A FOLDING BICYCLE, NAMELY I WANTED TO USE IT FOR COMBINED BIKING/KAYAKING/CANOEING TRIPS. IT FOLDS VERY EASILY AND I CAN PACK IT INTO MY PAKBOAT FOLDING KAYAK. THEN AFTER PADDLING DOWNSTREAM, I CAN UNFOLD THE BIKE, FOLD UP THE KAYAK, AND RIDE HOME WITH MY KAYAK PACKED IN A BURLEY BIKE TRAILER ATTACHED TO THE BIKE. THERE IS NO ONE BIKE THAT WILL FIT THE BILL FOR ALL PEOPLE, BUT IF YOU WANT A BIKE TO TAKE TOURING, OR CAR-CAMPING, OR EVEN FOR GENERAL USE, THAT YOU NEED TO FOLD UP ON OCCASION TO TRANSPORT BY CAR, BUS, BOAT, TRAIN, OR PLANE, ETC., I THINK THE SPEED TR IS AN EXCELLENT CHOICE. IF YOU DO A LOT OF REGULAR COMMUTING AND YOU OFTEN HAVE TO CARRY AROUND THE BIKE FOLDED UP IN A BIKE BAG, YOU WILL PROBABLY WANT TO LOOK FOR SOMETHING LIGHTER AND PERHAPS MORE COMPACT. ALSO WHILE THE SPEED TR WILL HANDLE GRAVEL ROADS AND DIRT TRAILS THAT DON'T HAVE TOO MANY RUTS WELL ENOUGH, IF YOU ARE REALLY INTO OFF-ROAD BIKING YOU SHOULD LOOK AT GETTING A MOUNTAIN BIKE, ALTHOUGH THERE AREN'T TOO MANY CHOICES FOR MOUNTAIN BIKES IN THE FOLDING BIKE CATEGORY. AND IF YOU ARE SERIOUSLY INTO SPEED OR RACING YOU WILL ALSO WANT TO LOOK AT A DIFFERENT MODEL. NEVERTHELESS, THE BIKE HAS A GEAR RANGE WITH SUFFICIENT CRUISING SPEED AND CLIMBING POWER FOR MOST PEOPLE'S NEEDS. WHEN I FIRST CONSIDERED GETTING A FOLDING BIKE, I WAS A LITTLE CONCERNED WITH HOW THE SMALLER DIAMETER WHEELS (GENERALLY 16" OR 2O") TYPICAL ON MOST FOLDING BIKES WOULD HANDLE COMPARED TO THE 26" WHEELS COMMON ON MOST ADULT BICYCLES. INTUITIVELY I THINK WE TEND TO ASSOCIATE THE SMALLER WHEELS WITH KIDS BIKES, WHICH ARE GENERALLY SLOWER AND NOT EASY FOR ADULTS TO RIDE. SO I WAS ALMOST TEMPTED TO GO WITH A 26" MODEL FOLDING BIKE, WHICH WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN AS COMPACT FOR PACKING INTO MY KAYAK. I AM VERY GLAD THAT I DECIDED TO GO WITH THE MORE COMPACT 20" DAHON SPEED TR, BECAUSE IT HANDLES NEARLY THE SAME AS MY NON-FOLDING 26" DIAMONDBACK HYBRID WHICH ALSO HAS 24 SPEEDS. THE ONE DIFFERENCE IN HANDLING WITH THE SMALLER WHEELS IS THAT THE BIKE TURNS MORE SHARPLY AND QUICKLY THAN ONE MIGHT BE USED TO ON A LARGER WHEELED BIKE, BUT WITH A LITTLE PRACTICE ONE CAN EASILY ADJUST FOR THAT DIFFERENCE. MY ONLY COMPLAINT ABOUT THE DAHON SPEED TR IS THAT THE SADDLE/SEAT THAT CAME WITH THE BIKE WAS NOT TOO COMFORTABLE FOR ME, BUT IT IS EASY ENOUGH TO SWITCH TO A DIFFERENT SADDLE. OVERALL THE DAHON SPEED TR SEEMS TO BE STURDY AND RELIABLE AND WILL GET YOU WHERE YOU NEED TO GO, WITH THE ADDED ADVANTAGE OF BEING ABLE TO FOLD IT UP WHEN YOU WANT TO TAKE IT WITH YOU WHEN YOU ARE TRAVELING BY OTHER MEANS. The shoes keep my feet warm in the temperature 10~15F degrees. Also the Gore-tex protection keeps the feet dry, protects from snow/water when walking on the snow patch or ice. Recommended for anyone who ride a clip-in bike in the very cold weather.

A waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex Duratherm lining provides warmth and comfort while a high-cut, neoprene cuff blocks out moisture. New Dahon Mu XL Sport Folding Bike Review

New Dahon Mu XL Sport Folding Bike

This is a great folding bike! It is my first one so I don't have much to compare it to but it is sturdy and fast. I loved riding it to work everyday and now that it is winter, I'm sad that I can't. This bike is great as a commuter bike but also perfectly fit for a long bike ride through the city or on the bike path. The wheels are very thin so it is not made for very bumpy terrain or roads with lots of potholes. The small wheels also make it very sensitive to manipulation. If you are not a steady rider, get the bike with 24 inch wheels. Otherwise, I take it to do my errands when I don't want to pay for parking. For example, I ride it downtown to the post office and rather than lock it up outside, in 15 secs I fold it up and carry it in with me. I get lots of stares, but it's better than a stolen bike! One criticism: The handle bars are slightly askew but a knob on the inside designed to keep the bars in place prevents me from straightening them easily. I think I can fix them but I am going to wait until spring when the weather is nicer.

The Mu XL Sport is the result of our customers clamoring for a light weight performance bike like the Mu SL, but equipped with a low-maintenance Shimano Nexus 8 Premium hub. The Mu XL Sport is light, fast, and easy to take care of - the ultimate urban commuter. * New V-Clamp hinge technology makes the Mu one of our stiffest frames. * Dahon Special Edition Shimano Nexus 8 hub with fewer spokes holes permits better spoke angles and a stronger wheel. * Dahon Special Edition Schwalbe Kojak tires are rocket fast yet wide enough for secure handling on rougher road surfaces. * The Kore saddle and post combination is light, comfortable, and offers twice as much fore/ aft adjustability as traditional rail systems.

BOB Yak 28 Plus Trailer In Black (Includes Dry Sak) Review

BOB Yak 28 Plus Trailer In Black (Includes Dry Sak)
Average Reviews:

We bought this trailer for touring with our tandem as well as for allowing us to transport larger items on our bike.We have used it for a four day tour and multiple errand rides around town.
The 28 version allows for use on bikes that have 700C wheels and fenders
Assembly took 15-30 minutes and the trailer came with proper instructions.
When riding you do not really notice the trailer all that much. If anything it makes the bike trail a little straighter. The hardest part of handling is the parking: Since it is near impossible to move the bike plus trailer backwards in a straight line you have to park the bike in such way that you can leave moving forward. Once you get used to that idea it is not that hard.
The biggest negative are the QR Levers. I have two QR levers, one for a standard bike and one for a tandem (145mm wide). It is hard to tighten them enough so that the rear wheel won't come loose. Twice I have had an issue with it: once on a regular bike where the rear wheel came out of the dropouts when I left from a stoplight (causing me to fall); the other time on our tandem, where the wheel remained in the dropout but pulled out of a straight line, causing the tire to rub against the fender.
Overall a useful trailer, but the QR lever could use a re-design
