Ironman 1611 Upright Bike Review

I thought I was purchasing a new item, the IRON MAN bike I received was obviously repacked and had been partially assembled. There was a well used box cutter inside the box. This wouldn't have mattered too much but the item was damaged (my guess that this is the reason it was returned).
I contacted Amazon about this they offered little beyond returning it to them. This would have been difficult due to my physical limitations, the condition of the now well used packaging and the weight of the item, so I contacted the US distributor Star Trac.
Star Trac makes you fill out a form to obtain warranty parts for an item that was supposed to be NEW. After more than 2 weeks I received the necessary parts.
I will not buy another item from them again.

Overall, I love the appearance of the bike - kind of funky. It is sturdy and comfortable, except for the handlebars. Absolutely terrible handlebar design! There is no way to comfortably rest your thumb or hands on the pulse sensor without ending up with your wrists aching. I tried flipping the handlebars both ways, and it doesn't improve either way. The sensors should have been placed on the ends of the handlebars. The electronics work -- but if you must wear bifocals, it will be next to impossible to read it. I eventually learned the positions of the screen layout and what works for me, so it's no longer important for me to be able to read the tiny, tiny print. There's not many bells and whistles, but I only paid $199 on clearance. I'm not sure I would be happy if I had paid full price. But gee! It looks good in my modern, Zen living room.

Schwinn 113 Upright Exercise Bike Review

Schwinn 113 Upright Exercise Bike
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
While I agree that this bike has many desirable features for the money, I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for.
On the positive side, the bike is built of solid components. It is almost silent when in use. The electronic readout is well laid out, and the program features are plentiful for the pricepoint.
On the downside, the quality of construction is lacking. The main problem I had right out of the box was with the RPM/speed sensor. When I tried the bike out, the RPM readings would frequently peg at 199 RPM or drop to zero. This throws off the distance calculation too. Obviously this would be unacceptable for anyone on a training regimen.
A couple calls to the knowledgeable and helpful Nautilus/Schwinn customer support line sorted this problem out. Apparently this was not an uncommon problem. Turns out that the flywheel revolution sensor, underneath the plastic base cover, was installed in the wrong place. The sensor is attached to the frame by a couple machine screws. I was informed there was a bad batch of 113 and 213's that had the screw holes mis-drilled. (If this happens to your bike, move the black plastic sensor so that it lines up directly with the magnet on the flywheel, and is 1/8th an inch away from the magnet. By the way, it will take some doing to remove the plastic cover, and access is tight unless you remove the pedals - this is not a 10 minute fix.) This bike had not been QA tested, otherwise the problem with the sensor would have been discovered. Seems like Schwinn should have recalled these bikes rather than letting the consumer "find" them.
On a lesser note, the welds are a bit sloppy, and the paint job is smudged in several places. The electrical connectors look pretty cheap. What is ironic is that the bike has a "Schwinn Quality" badge on the front. The price is low becuase of low cost manufacturing overseas.
Overall, it's a good bike and I'll keep using it. It still seems like a good deal relative to a StarTrac or Life Fitness bike that is at least double the cost, but you get what you pay for.

Endurance B2U Upright Exercise Bike Review

Endurance B2U Upright Exercise Bike
Average Reviews:

The Amazon price for the Endurance B2U Exercise Bike, with free shipping, was the best I could find anywhere. The bike arrived on the day expected and was in excellent condition (Very well packaged in box). Unfortunately, that is where the good news ends.
The assembly instructions were about the worst I have ever seen. Most of the instructions were small-scall images. There were very few written instructions and what ones there were were written by people who have never spoken English. They made no sense at all. I had a terrible time figuring out how to connect the magnetic resistance knob to the cable. Finally, at the bottom of the box was a second set of instructions that actually showed how to do this.
The bike has a heavy duty feel to it, or at least heavy as it weighs well over 100 lbs. The seat height is adjustable and the seat itself is quite comfortable. The bike is extremely quiet even when peddled at high speeds. About the only sound I hear with the bike is my heavy breathing and my 51-year old knees popping. Its easy to listen to television while exercising without turning the volume up above normal levels.
The absolute worst part of the bike is the "friendly console" that is very cheaply designed for such an expensive bike. The calorie counter does not adjust to the resistance level so, the bright guy that I am, I think I will always set the resistance at Level 1 since Level 15 doesn't burn any more calories per hour. Another annoyance is that there seems to be very little difference between resistance levels 1 through 8 and you have to get up to level 11 to 15 for it to be challenging. I have to say that the heart rate monitor seems to be accurate.
If I had known what I was getting for my money I would never have bought the silly thing. However, now that I have it put together I'll probably use it the rest of my life as it does provide a way to get good exercise without leaving the house.

Schwinn Airdyne Evo Comp Exercise Bike Review

Schwinn Airdyne Evo Comp Exercise Bike
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
You know all of the advantages of the Schwinn Airdyne bikes and no reason to rehash here. But I believe the Airdyne Evo Comp is worth the few extra bucks over the old standard Airdyne for several reasons. First, the Airdyne Evo Comp is noticably quieter because it uses a belt to drive the fan verses a chain on the Airdyne. Second, the Airdyne Evo Comp has newer technology/higher quality components in the bearings, crankset, etc. so it will last even longer than the old standard (which has a great service history!). Third, the shape of the fans in the Airdyne Evo Comp eliminates the drafting effect on the Airdyne which actually reduces the pedaling resistance at higher speeds a little. Fourth, the fan on the Airdyne Evo Comp does not blow on you like the Airdyne (I actually would prefer a little air on me when working out, but most people don't).
I found the assembly instructions ok. You must pay attention to what you are doing and follow them exactly as written but you can follow them. (This is the same as the Airdyne I understand.) I did not find any of the "China quality problems" described by others. In fact, I find the quality outstanding. As far as the rubber shavings, I had that problem and I noticed the rubber belt was rubbing on the fan cage. Simply loosening the 3 screws that attach the fan cage to the bike frame, rotating the cage an inch or so where the belt does not rub on the cage, and retightening took care of the problem -- a 2 minute fix. Finally, the overall rating on this bike is not as low as the stars show -- you will notice that one of the 2-star ratings is listed 3 times bringing down the average rating down 1-star -- otherwise it would be about the same as the Airdyne. Overall, this is a great bike and I am happy with it.

Save money on monthly gym fees and get yourself in shape at the same time with the Schwinn Airdyne Evo Comp exercise bike. The Airdyne Evo Comp features a smooth, air-based resistance braking system along with a pair of sturdy exercise arms. The advantage of the unique air resistance system is that it offers as much resistance as you can handle. The harder you pedal, the greater the resistance. The integrated exercise arms, meanwhile, make it possible to work out your upper body and your lower body at the same time, unlike most traditional exercise bikes. The friction-free braking system also requires considerably less maintenance than other, more complex systems, so you don't have to spend your hard-earned money on frustrating repairs. And thanks to the sealed cartridge bearings, the Airdyne Evo Comp provides a smooth ride throughout the bike's extra-long life.
The Airdyne Evo Comp includes a comprehensive computer console that provides feedback on time, distance, workload level, calories burned, calories per hour, heart rate, and RPM. As a result, it's easy to keep track of your overall fitness level. Other features include an extra-quiet chain and belt drive system equipped with a spring-loaded chain tensioner; built-in heart rate monitoring; an LCD display; a fan wheel that cools the user during exercise; an anatomically correct seat with extra padding; and a capacity of 300 pounds. The Airdyne Evo Comp measures 22.5 by 48 by 50 inches (W x H x D), weighs 104 pounds, and carries the following warranties: 30 years on the frame, three years on parts and electronics, and one year on labor and wear items.

Phoenix 98623 Revolution Cycle Pro II Exercise Bike Review

Phoenix 98623 Revolution Cycle Pro II Exercise Bike
Average Reviews:

This bike is great gym quality for half the price of spinner NTX and schwinn. I used the NTX at the gym and other than the fact that te NTX is cooler looking, it preforms the same. If you compare the spinner pro/elite or the schwinn models to this one, they have basically the same frame, plus the braking/resistance pads on the pheonix is the same as the schwinn only with a couple inprovements.
The ntx resistance pad is a single direct pressure on the outside of the flywheel---which is esentially the same as a drum brake. A single pad with less surface area leads to increased wear and needing to replace the pad sooner. whereas the pheonix and the schwinn use 2 pads compressing the flywheel---like a disc brake.---increased resistance surface and better resistance, decreased wear on pads.
It is as sturdy and well build as the NTX.-even has the same handlebars--minus the bottle holders. It is heavy---130 lbs but has wheels for moving.
Only thing to consider is that the bike seems to be build for larger individuals. I'm 5'6" and anm only 1 notch away from being the lowest seat post adjustment and the seat is 1 notch from being farthest foward. So I'm thinking 5'4" should be the height requirement for this ride.
Seat that comes with bike is cheap-so take your seat off your normal bike and put it on this and note that the pedals are just medal with straps--not clip-on compatible but for the cost of a new seat and pedals-your still looking at 3/4 the cost of a scwhinn-NTX.
and note the all black frame is fun put your favorite stickers on.
Happy cycling.

The modern-looking Revolution Cycle Pro II is designed for an energetic and challenging workout, with such features as a direct-drive resistance system, an emergency stop brake system, and an adjustable seat and handlebars. Unlike with road bikes, the 39.6-pound balanced flywheel on the Revolution Cycle Pro II doesn't continue to spin if the rider stops pedaling. Instead, the rider slows the flywheel and controls the tension with a tension knob, helping the bike adapt to people with different intensity needs. The direct-drive system, meanwhile, lets the rider pedal either forward or backward during the workout, with a quick-stop handle serving as an instant brake for changing directions or in case of emergency. Most importantly, the Revolution Cycle Pro I is biomechanically efficient, with a two-way adjustable seat post that moves vertically and horizontally while you're mounted on the bike, along with an adjustable handlebar. As a result, you can drop the saddle down and out of the way to work the inner thigh, or perform other legwork off the back of the bike.
Other details include a heavy-duty brake pad resistance system with center-pull brake pads, front wheels for easy transport, sturdy toe clips made of the same alloy materials used in off-road racing, a heat-treated axle, a water bottle, and a weight capacity of 250 pounds. The Revolution Cycle Pro II measures 24 by 42.5 by 42.3 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 113 pounds.

First I'd like to say how fast I received this bike! Amazon sent it FedEx and I received it 3 days from the date of my order. It was packaged well and got here fine. I only seen one review on this bike which was a 5 star. I usually look for more people who purchase an item but what I liked about this bike was the fact that the seat was adjustable 2 different ways and also the handle bars. So many of the reviews on other bikes talked about how the seat was too high on the lowest level for shorter people. I'm only 5'1", so this was a concern for me. This bike I can adjust to ride it comfortably! The seat is large and cushioned. I put it together by myself. My husband did removed it from the box for me as the base of it is quite heavy and I didn't want to drop it. I would suggest having 2 people attach the handle bars. It was a little tricky trying to hold them in place while screwing on the front and back plate pieces, but I did do it after a few attempts. I've had this bike for only a week now but so far so good. I have it in my livingroom in front of the TV where I can ride it while watching TV daily. It is quiet and smooth riding. I like the monitor that tells you how long you've rode, calories burned, heart rate etc. It's a great bike for the money. I highly reccomend it.
If any problems occur in the future, I'll let you know. Hopefully not tho.

The product pictured is a Life Fitness Model 9500 upright bike, a much older, less expensive bike versus the 9500HR. The words and heading claim this to be a 9500HR bike and it is priced like a 9500HR would be priced. Anyone buying the item pictured (a 9500) as a 9500HR is getting ripped off.

Schwinn 130 Upright Exercise Bike Review

I've been using this bike for about a month and over all I am pleased. The seat is my biggest complaint. I've gotten used to it to a certain degree, but it still bothers me after about 35-40 minutes, even when I'm wearing my biking shorts. My only other complaint is that the construction seems kind of cheap and flimsy in certain ways. I feel like I need to be kind of careful with it, although nothing has broken. The programs are fine, and it is almost silent while riding it. Considering the relatively low price, I think this is a good bike, and I don't regret my purchase.

About Exercise Bikes Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

Schwinn 140 Upright Exercise Bike Review

I did a lot of online research before purchasing this bike. I was looking for a bike that was built well, quiet, decent electronics, and good value. This Schwinn 140 is exactly what I was looking for. Shipping was very quick for this item. Amazon told me it shipped on a Friday, and it arrived at my house the following Tuesday.
Unpacking the box was relatively easy. It looked like a lot of parts at first, but there weren't that many steps required to put this bike together. I was able to assemble this bike in about an hour, by myself. The instructions were clear, although installing the handle bars was a little tricky.
Once the bike was assembled I spent about 15 minutes making adjustments for my riding height and style. This bike has many adjustments, so take your time getting it right. I'll probably make more adjustments after my first full week of workouts.
I really like the electronics. The display looks high-end. It's bright, easy to read, the colors are nice. I had one issue when I first powered up the bike, after 2 minutes I got an "E3" error. But after resetting the display, it was fine, and I haven't seen it since. Hopefully that's not a portent of things to come. But so far so good.
I'm 6', and weigh 240 pounds (that's why I bought an exercise bike). This bike feels very sturdy for my size and weight. No loose parts, or creaking noises. At least not yet.
I will be posting pictures to Amazon shortly.
