While you can do the exercises on this machine without much trouble, the machine itself does have a few design flaws. First, the machine could stand to be constructed a little bit more sturdier. It is slightly wobbly, even when all screws are fastened tightly. Secondly, the seat pad apparently has a severe defect with it. The cushion can separate from the wooden base. Lastly, the seat cushion is not very comfortable for males. It puts a lot of pressure on the genitals and the pubic bone.
The other issue is Yukon's (the manufacturer) customer service is terrible. My seat pad came torn on delivery. It took Yukon approximately 3 months to ship out the replacement. After a month and a half their policy seemed to be deception, and they kept telling me the seat would be delivered "next week," 4 weeks in a row.
One service rep stated that the seat replacement is in so much demand that is in constant back-order. That is a red flag in itself.
I recommend that if you do purchase this equipment you also buy some duct tape and thoroughly wrap it around the seat cushion and the base of the seat cushion. It should give the seat enough support so that it doesn't end up separating.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this Hyper/roman chair made by Powertec because I own Powertec's leverage workbench and it is an OUTSTANDING, SOLID piece of equipment so, I thought that I couldn't go wrong with their Roman Chair- I was correct to think so. The P-HR 45 by Powertec feels extremely SOLID while in use. The previous review complained about the pads being set to far apart- I did not find that to be so. I actually think that Powertec did this so that men could do Hyperextensions on this equipment in comfort and not have to worry about the family jewels being ruined. (Thanks Powertec!) Most Hyper/Roman chairs that I have seen are a bit huge. This chair surprisingly takes up very little space. It is very important that you FOLLOW DIRECTIONS when putting this together. It states that you should NOT tighten the bolts when putting this together until all the bolts are in place. I put all bolts into place and then tightened them starting from the bottom of the chair and worked my way up. TRUST me when I tell you that you should take heed to this as it really does make a difference as to how solid this machine will feel to you when you are using it. To me, there is nothing more important than to have your abs and lower back in there absolute best shape. Do yourself a favor and add this EXCELLENT piece of equipment to your home gym.

OSIM iGallop Core and Abs Exerciser Review

(More customer reviews)Fellow horseback riders, you'll want to own this fun machine!! After reading the reviews here on Amazon, I went to Brookstone to try one of these before buying. Not only did I come home with one, but so did my riding buddy. (They were on sale at considerably less than half the retail price of $600.)
It has 3 speeds of the same side-to-side/circular motion, plus a 4th setting that randomly goes through the 3 speeds. In all cases, the motion approximates the 4-beat, lateral gait of a horse who's walking or racking.
Speed One is like riding a large horse who has a very clunky walk. Speed Two speeds up and smooths out a bit. It's like riding a gaited horse who's not smooth enough to want to buy. Speed Three speeds up again and smooths out even more. Fold your arms and hold them up in front of your chest, keep your shoulders steady, absorb the motion in your hips, and you'll feel like you're racking down the road on a decent horse at a good clip.
I've had all sorts of exercise machines over the years, but nothing has ever been as fun as this. It seems effortless to ride, and yet, both my riding buddy and I were surprised (and delighted) to feel some stiffness in all sorts of muscles. It's also strengthening my back which was injured in a horse wreck years ago.
The DVD that comes with it shows many additional exercises that you can do while balancing on this thing (if you're young and agile!), but I'm just having fun horsebackin' in front of the TV!
UPDATE: I've had my iGallop more than 3 months now and I still love it. I ride a minimum of 30 minutes every day, and an hour whenever possible (this is easy to time as the machine automatically runs for only 15 minutes - to continue, just hit the start button again). I've lost more than 5 pounds and an inch from my waist and hips. I credit this largely to the iGallop since I haven't changed anything else in my diet or exercise program.
2nd UPDATE ALMOST A YEAR LATER: I still love this machine, but am now on my second one thanks to my having purchased an extended warranty (doubling the original 12 months to 24). Six weeks shy of my one-year purchase date, my iGallop suddenly made noise, smelled of smoldering plastic and flopped loosely (and, no, I'm petite, so my weight didn't wreck it [grin]). I took it to Brookstone and they were wonderful about replacing it on the spot, leaving me with 13 months to go on the same warranty should I need yet another replacement(s). Soooo, moral of the story is; if you're offered an extended warranty, you may want to consider it.
