(More customer reviews)After purchasing the Lotte Berk Method cd's, I realized that I wasn't getting the full effect of the program. So, I decided to invest in a ballet barre.
I hesitated a long time before making this purchase because my one rule of thumb regarding exercise equipment is to not spend a lot of money. I can become very enthusiastic about a project, buy a lot of equipment and lose interest.
In the end though, the aforementioned exercise routine is very, very effective; so I threw caution to the wind and bought the barre.
Let me say, first of all, it is very, very heavy. I had to get it up the the second floor& I still don't know how I managed it by myself. It comes in two boxes. One box contains the base and the other contains the upright and cross bars.
Once I got it upstairs, I realized, in this instance, heavy is good. I can perform all of the routines without feeling the barre will tip over.
You can adjust the height of the apparatus but its a little tricky. However, once you have it set, you probably won't have to adjust it again.
I recommend this barre as well as the Lotte Berk exercise routines.

(More customer reviews)The concept of this equipment is great. You can do all kinds of strengthening exercises with it, as well as incorporate some cardio work. It's easy to assemble too. However, when I received mine, I was missing four parts (the two sliders and spring pins). When I called and requested the parts, they were immediately shipped to me, no questions asked. When I received them, the spring pin construction was poor. One end includes a plastic knob, with the screw threads in the plastic. One was stripped. I had to go but knobs with metal thread inserts at a hardware store to make it work. Then, after using it for about for weeks, another part broke. Then tension cord attaches to the frame with a plastic clip. Under regular tension, the clip snapped. I just requested a replacement part, though I am sure it will probably not hold either.
So, in summary, if the smaller parts were of a little higher quality, this would be an excellent product. But, the quality is lacking and requires some creativity.

(More customer reviews)These barres would be great for individual, very light use at home, but do not stand up to any kind of consistent use with multiple students. They are easy to assemble, lightweight, and easy to fix, but I find I am fixing them more often than I am using them.
