Body-Solid Multi Press Rack Package Review

I looked at and compaired prices and this seemed like the best deal. The quality is excellent! The weight plates all got shipped in one crate. You will probably what two strong people on the day it is delivered. Assembling this took awhile, but I went slow and thought about what I was doing. There are not instructions, just a picture of the parts and where they go. I would recommend having two 3/4" sockets on hand, it will make assembling easier. I just got this yesterday, so I haven't done much, but I can tell you this is solid and the plates are great quality. I highly recommend this! I should mention that I have worked at professional gyms and I'm 39 years old and I chose this as the cornerstone of my home gym.

Ironmaster Super Bench & Dumbbell Combo Review

Ironmaster Super Bench and Dumbbell Combo
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Got 1000 bucks to spend on a home gym? What might you want to buy? That was my dilemma when I got an overseas assignment in a remote area, and knew I wouldn't see a decent gym for months on end. So, I bought two alternatives--an Ironmaster weights, bench, and accessories, and a Bowflex Ultimate.
After a year's use, I have a clear favorite--the Ironmaster. Now, the Bowflex claims that you can do some 100+ gym-quality exercises with it. You can do 100+ exercises, but they are far from gym quality. Hey, you can do 100+ exercises with two bags of rocks and a little creativity. The Bowflex took a LONG time to put together, and frankly, all of those exercises aren't so great. I max out the Bowflex on some exercises, and I'm no gym dude--just a 50-yr old in respectable shape. And the Bowflex has variable resistance with those bows, meaning you aren't getting resistance where you need it on a lot of exercises. Finally, you don't need 100+ exercises. The fact is, when you come right down to it, there are probably about 15 exercises that will take care of your whole body.
Now, the Ironmaster. First, the free weights. I've used other adjustable free-weights, and none are as secure or as fast to change out as the Ironmaster. And, you can step it up 2-1/2 lbs at a go--not so necessary for me, but great for my wife. One fast change-out trick when stepping up the weights--rather than adding equally on both sides, just add an additional weight to ONE side of the dumbbell. This takes half the time. By shifting your hand slightly off-center on the crossbar, it will still feel balanced.
The bench--superb quality. Quickly adjusts to various inclines, from perpendicular to flat and plenty in between. Necessary accessories for a full range of exercises--definitely, the leg extension curl and crunch sit-up attachments. Both are durable and comfortable, and let you focus on your workout. I also got the curl bar and the preacher curl pad--all for under $1000 (you might find some specials if you go to the Ironmaster website).
Nothing puts on muscle faster than free weights, true. But this is not just for putting on the meat. If I'm not feeling like a full workout, I'll just go through a few reps to flex the muscles, even in front of the TV. It's a lot better than couch-potato-ing it, and leaves me refreshed. There are also a lot of exercises you can do without the Ironmaster--lunges, squats, all kinds of stretches, toe raises (with or without weights)--to supplement the Ironmaster, so that your body gets a thorough workout, without a houseful of equipment.
Conclusion: gives a great essential workout, saves time and money when compared to going to the gym, and a lot more convenient. Going to last a long, long time. For your money, this might be unbeatable.

I give this four stars cuz you have to take time to adjust it to workout both sides of yor legs (quads, hamstings). And its a bit wobbly. But you just add standard weights and you get a decent weight workout without the trip 2 the gym. The machine cost like $350, not bad. If you want perfection in your workout equipment this machine is not for you, but if you dont mind, than you'll be satisfied.

Precor Adjustable Multi-Angle Bench Review

Precor Adjustable Multi-Angle Bench

Precor Adjustable Multi-Angle Bench
I'm familiar with home, institutional and commercial gym equipment. I currently have a Precor commercial grade treadmill, elliptical and recumbent bike. I have considered Precor's commercial products to be one of the best commercial fitness equipment manufacturers in the market. I recently ordered and received from Amazon a Precor home gym adjustable multi-angle bench. I bought this product based on my past Precor experience and I wanted a bench that was lighter duty so it is easier to handle in a home gym environment. What a disappointment when I took this piece of junk out of the box. Cheap is the best way to describe the quality of the product. I would be better off lift weights using an ironing board to lie on. I was preparing to purchase a Precor Functional Trainer for my next piece of home equipment but after this experience I will look for another manufacture that can design and build a decent home gym product.

Add variety to your workout routine with this Precor adjustable multi-angle bench. Designed to complement the Precor S3.23 functional trainer, the bench features six different angles of adjustment, letting you customize your workouts to focus on your upper and lower body or core. The bench is also comfortable and supportive, with dark brown vinyl upholstery that sits over contour foam padding. And moving the bench couldn't be easier thanks to the bottom transport wheels and user-friendly handles. Made of powder-coated steel for durability, the bench measures 25 by 17 by 53 inches (W x H x D) when flat and weighs 55 pounds. It carries the following warranties: lifetime on the frame, 10 years on parts and wear items, and one year on labor.

Ironmaster Super Bench Adjustable weight-lifting Bench Review

Ironmaster Super Bench Adjustable weight-lifting Bench
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I agree that this bench is versatile, especially given all the possible attachments. However, it does have some design flaws or at least shortcomings in my opinion.
First... the legs are not wide enough to give the bench stability when used with attachments such as for the dip and chin. It is serviceable for other exercises, but if it was only an inch or two wider on each side it would be much better.
Second... With this bench you need to change attachments frequently. Unfortunately, the bolt and pin assembly that is used to make these changes is plastic on the part that you apply leverage to. While I don't know of one breaking, it certainly looks like this would be a probably outcome over time. You must also insert the pin and screw it tight with the plastic part referenced above to fully engage the attachments into the frame. We could put spaceships on the moon, but we can't come up with something better here? How much could this improvement cost?
Third... if you are using this unit in a confined area, you will need to move it around in order to switch from flat or incline to decline. This requires removing the seat, adding the situp attachment and reversing your direction. If your set up is close to a wall... you will also have to move the bench.
This is speculation on my part, but if you buy the dumbbell spotting system, it appears that the bench gets more stable from the cross bracing. If you buy the chin up and dip attachments first, you will almost certainly NEED to incur an extra $200+ expense. Who knows if this is intentional, but as another reviewer points out, you don't find some things out until you start using the bench.
On the upside, there are many angle settings, seat positions, etc. The bench also is well padded and looks durable. As other reviewers point out, assembly is easy and this unit has a small footprint. It's rated for heavy weight, but interestingly the seat doesn't lock, it just slips in and as I mentioned above, I don't think the base is wide enough. For weights up to 200-300 lbs. I don't see a major problem, but I would want a spotter if I were handling anything heavier because of the possibility of tipping. (I don't handle weights that heavy, but I'm sure some of you might.)
At the price point, this is a good buy. However, be prepared to spend more money if you want to take advantage of all the features. As one reviewer mentioned, you can't even do decline anything without buying another attachment. I felt this was somewhat misleading given the description of the bench as it was written when I purchased mine.
I suspect this would be GREAT with all the attachments. I'm already heavily committed, but in the end the total cost will be quite high. I think the manufacturer should at least through in the situp attachment that is REQUIRED for decline exercises given that it is advertised as a decline bench. It's a good bench, just be aware of what you are getting and what you are NOT!

This was the exact bench that I wanted. Unfortunately, it came damaged in shipping twice. It was sent UPS and boxed poorly for such a heavy item. I tried to get Amazon to send me it in better packaging or through a differnt carrier, but I was not successful in doing so. So I returned the product twice and just purchased something locally.

Body Solid FID46 Flat Incline Decline Bench Review

Body Solid FID46 Flat Incline Decline Bench
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pro's:
- really solid bench, is quite heavy and sturdy
- wheels allow relatively easy mobility
- 8 adjustable positions from decline, to flat, to almost upright
- leg extension with handles that can allow you to lay on your stomach to work your hamstrings
- good for sit-ups, especially from the decline position
- padding is quite thick and solid, yet comfortable
- the back pad is almost 3 ft. so ample space
- all the screws, nuts, bolts, washers are clearly labeled and separated to make for an organized assembly
Cons:
- the pads were a hassle to fit, the screws weren't drilled in the exact place so some adjustments were necessary
- this thing is massive, definitely not a space saver
- sits up pretty high off the ground (I'm 5'10 and in the lower positions my feet barely touch the ground, I end up resting them on the U-bar)
- in the flat position, there's a 3-inch gap between the seat and back pads, it takes some wiggling to find a comfortable position which is not so easy when you're holding heavier weight over your chest
- bench can not go into a perfect 90-degree angle, it's more like 100 at "upright"
I was looking for one bench to do decline, flat, and upright. It's not completely upright, which isn't such a big deal but having it not be so comfortable flat is a disappointment. Having the leg extension though makes up for the shortcoming as it makes the bench more versatile. Having the back pad so long though makes it difficult to do tricep extensions sitting upright. However doing them while sitting on a ball is better for you anyway. Paid $200 with free shipping off Amazon.

The removable leg developer, meanwhile, makes it a breeze to work out your quads or hamstrings while sitting on the bench, with a pair of cushioned hand grips adding stability. Other details include upholstered 4-by-8-inch rollers and oversized brash bushings for friction-free movement and a weight capacity of more than 1,000 pounds. The owner Travis is a snake! I bought a bench for my son that fell over on him and almost broke his neck! I called and spoke to Travis who promised to allow us to exchange it for another if we were willing to pay MORE! I agreed and called him the next day to tell him which bench my son picked, but Travis would not come to the phone. I left him message after message for 2 weeks and he ignored them all and never called us back. I referred the matter to Amazon who told me that they needed to investigate. Once Amazon called him, Travis finally returned my call and told me that he would help me ONLY IF I WITHDREW MY COMPLAINT?!! Of course I refused since he had been ignoring me for weeks! The matter went before Amazon's Escallation Department that ended siding with Travis and Fitness Edge Exercise Equipment!
We ended up getting stuck for $250 because 'Travis' the owner of Fitness Edge Exercise equipment decided that it would be cheaper to go back on his word! He promised that we could exchange the bench one day and went back on his promise the next! Once this guy gets your money...he doesn't care about anything else! My son almost broke his neck and this creep couldn't care less. Once he found out that we didn't intend to take legal action...he then decided that there was no reason to do anything further! He even lied to Amazon's Escallation Department, telling them that he never promised to replace the defective bench! After it was all over, we ended up getting stuck for $250! Do yourself a big favor and save yourself alot of trouble and grief by buying direct from Amazon.com or another reputable company.

Once you have the bench assembled you will be very happy with this solid, well made weight bench. The assembly is tricky and there are no instructions except for a parts diagram that can be difficult to follow. You will need wrenches and/or a metric socket set to properly assemble this bench. This a a heavy duty bench that is rated up to 1,000 pounds and Bodysolid provides a lifetime warranty. I found the bench to be very stable and comfortable. I have used it in all modes: incline, decline and flat and the adjustments are very easy. There are two wheels on the base which are useful when you want to move the bench. In summary, I believe this is the last weight bench I will ever need to buy.

BodyCraft F320 Flat/Incline/Decline System Bench Review

BodyCraft F320 Flat/Incline/Decline System Bench
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Just as the description indicates, this bench can be used in any configuration inside a power rack or smith machine. Conventional flat-incline-decline benches have to straddle the back lower bar of the rack to be able to lift off the rear supports. That's not an option if you have a lat attachment. Because the front of the Bodycraft bench slides backwards, there are no such clearance issues even at full incline.
Quality is excellent in my opinion, far superior to my Marcy (Impex) AB4050 FID bench and at least as good as the Bowflex 5.1.
Only negatives to note:
Full incline isn't as inclined as other benches I've seen, probably only +80 degrees, not a problem for some (If you want to be fully upright what do you need the bench for) but if you insist on this feature, you should know it's not available.
Assembly instructions differ slightly from actual product. The assembly is still obvious and foolproof, and the engineering on what you actually have is superior to what is shown. Must have been redesigned with making a correction to the manual.

The only bench designed to fit any Smith machine or rack system, the BodyCraft F320 keeps your feet securely in contact with the ground--one of the key factors in proper benching technique. The bench boasts 12-gauge steel tube construction that's tough and long-lasting, with an 18-inch height in flat position that makes dumbbells easy to reach. More significantly, the bench offers eight total positions, including flat, decline, incline, and vertical, making it easy to work out your chest, shoulders biceps, back, triceps, and more. And thanks to the 2-inch-thick, high-density-foam seat and seat back--which are covered in black vinyl--you'll work out in comfort and style. Designed to work at all angles within the confines of any Smith machine or rack system, the F320 accepts several other workout attachments, including the F610 arm curl and F611 leg extension/curl. The bench measures 51 by 18 by 21 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 69 pounds.

Amazon customer Service,I am reaffirming what I told you in an earlier complaint call. I have the recored the 10:35am September 27, 2010 phone conversation between myself and Travis and a recorded a copy of the 5:15pm September 29, 2010 message left by the same person. In it, you will hear Travis state that he WILL NOT do ANYTHING to help us until I withdraw the complaint that I was forced into filing! In the September 27 conversation, you will hear the same person giving reasons why he NEVER returned any of my calls from the prior week! The September 27, 2010 conversation was the first time that Travis and I ever spoke and you can clearly here the laim excuse he gives for not calling prior! You can also clearly hear him try to give us the impression that he is going to help my son and I.
During this call, Travis instructed me to check my email to answer a proir email sent by one of his subordinates. I did this after I got off the pgone with him on Monday moring...which he is now trying to show as proof that he is trying to help.
The truth of the matter is that Travis and I never spoke before this and never spoke again! You can clearly hear him admit that we had never spoke proir and phone records will show that we never spoke since! Travis's only concern on the 27th, was whether or not we still had the packing material...not my son's safety! You can hear me make it very clear to him that I wanted to exchange the defective bench for one that was safe and that I was willing to pay up to $200 more for the replacement. You can hear me ask him if he would be willing to pick up the defective bench and do an exchange, with me paying the difference. When I asked him this, he did not give me an answer but instead asked if we still had the packaging?! I told him that I didn't know because it was a gift for my son and I had to call and ask him. Travis said he wanted the packaging so he could resell the bench! you can then hear me ask Travis to send me some suggestions for a safe replacement, meanwhile I would call my son that evening about the packaging. I told Travis that I would call him tomorrow, after speaking to my son. You will get the distint impresseion that he planned help us as I did!
The next morning I callled Travis, but he didn't answer his phone. You will then hear the message that I left for him. I simply stated that I spoke to my son and he no longer had the packaging, receipt or the manifest. Travis never called me back! I called and again several times but not only was Travis not answering his phone, but no one was answering the main number now either! That evening I called Amazon customer Service and told them what was going on...EVERYTHING! The young lady suggested that I file an A-Z Claim and that she agreed that something was wrong!
I never did hear anything from Travis or anyone else until Wednesday evening the business day had concluded. Travis had caled my cellular to let me know that he was now aware of my filed claim! You can hear Travis clearly state, that he had no intention of doing anything for me until I withdrew the claim! I was shocked and also thought it was also funny, since he NEVER promised to do anything for me in the first place! I did not respond to this call but instead paced a call to Amazon Customer Service! I spoke with a gentleman who told me that this is not the way claims are to be handled. He told me that the seller should know better and NOT to withdraw the claim. He told me that he would note the account and I told him that I had this on tape if Amazon wanted to hear it!
On the following Friday evening, I sent Travis several emails. I wanted to know why he was treating us like this, lying to us and refusing to return my phone call on Tuesday! He then had the nerve to send me a copy of my Monday email that HE asked me to repond to after our only conversation on Monday morning!? I couldn't believe it, but now understood why he returned my call on Monday! He wanted me to respond to the email, so he could try to demonstrate to Amazon, that he had been hellping me all along! Of all of the Dispicable, Slimy tricks!? I immediately called Amazon to let them know what he was up to as well as sending Travis an email that proved that he was doing anything at all to help us?! Naturally, he never responded!
This person should not be allowed to sell on Amazon Marketplace and it makes me curious as to whether this has happened to anyone else in the past! Meanwhile, I have made copies of all audio correspondence between myself and this slime bag! Please furnish me with an address to send it to as regular customer service could not furnish me with one!
Respectfully.
Mr. Joseph A Cristofalo

Very solid and heavy lifting equipment. Well designed for lifting heavy weight. Would rate it at 5 stars except 1) it did not come with assembly instructions and 2) I haven't been able to set up the leg support to perform decline pressing.

This F.I.D. Bench goes from a –15% decline to a full 90% Upright with six adjustments between the two. There has a very easy to use handle attached to the back pad that allows adjustment. Each F.I.D. bench comes with a "foot hold down” for decline press’s or sit ups, and a Leg Extension/Curl Attachment. This bench is a great accessory to a cage system or looks good in front of a dumbbell rack. The padding is very supportive to the user who is lifting heavy weights so you will get maximum support during your lift. Some assembly is required.

Bowflex SelectTech Adjustable Bench Series 5.1 Review

Bowflex SelectTech Adjustable Bench Series 5.1

I bought the Select-Tech 552 dumbell set w/stand, so I needed a bench to go with it. I saw this was the 'matching' bench and had good reviews, so I went with it without much shopping around. I think I paid $150 with no tax or shipping. As I did not shop around, I don't know if this is a good 'value' compared to other brands.
As far as the bench itself, it is very sturdy. No wobbling while you are using it - this is a big plus. It also looks very nice and obviously matches my other equipment.
The adjustment options are nice to have, but to me they are mostly unnecessary. I only use it in the flat position and one incline position. I can't imagine what one would do with all the other positions, but maybe someone who is more sophisticated in their work out could utilize them.
The leg attachment, again, is very sturdy. I didn't buy it for sit-ups, nor would I recommend this to someone who wanted it solely for sit-ups, but if you want a bench primarily for lifting that gives you a sit-up option, this will work just fine.
As to the negatives... This was mentioned by another reviewer, but there is a opening in the bench where it folds up. It is really in a bad place (atleast for me, I am 6' 3") - right on the small of the back. It is uncomfortable and seems like it could cause injury. I am able to get around it by scooting my rear as close to the end of the bench before I lay back. Still, it seems like this could have been designed better.
The assembly was simple and consists primarily of using washers and bolts. On mine, on the bottom end, the welds were in the way of one of the holes I needed to put a bolt/washer through. The washer would not sit flat and it was very difficult to get this one tight.
Another complaint would be that the wheels are useless the way they are positioned - you will just end up dragging it from one place to another. And the bench does not fold up for storage, so it may not be the most compact bench to tuck away when not in use.
Overall, I would recommend the bench and I would buy it again, but it is far from perfect. If you shop around you may be able to find a better option for your individual needs. Hopefully my insight helps with your purchase decision!

PT/Pro JP0001 Portable Fitness Bench Review

I am an in home personal trainer and have used this bench for 3 years. I absolutely love the functionality of this product. I did, however, encounter a couple of problems as far as quality is concerned. The carrying handle fell off (not quite as mobile now) and one of the pieces of plastic on the back of the bench (used for various incline positions) broke. Both of these things happened within six months to a year and a half of owning it. Needless to say I was disappointed, but since I spent nearly $300 on this bench there wasn't a lot I could do but to keep using it. I have since looked for another product similar to this one but cannot find one. As a result I am about to order a new PT/Pro bench in the hopes that it will hold up better than the previous one. I give the functionality of this product 5 stars but the quality only 3 stars.

this is not quite a gym-quality bench, but for the money it's a pretty good value (esp. if you want one that can decline). it's not fun to put it together, but I was able to do it on my own except for a couple of steps (needed one other person).
