My husband and I are members of an expensive New York gym and we love to run a few times a week. On the weekends, we love the flexibility to run at home or not run outside in the cold. We own this treadmill for over a month now and chose this model because of the low deck height (5.75") and it's perfect for our basement with low ceiling. The no-shipping-cost from Amazon was great and it was delivered in less than 2 weeks.
At least three people were needed to move and lift the deck off the box. The incline automatically popped open when we lifted it and we couldn't figure out how to lower it. The motor cover also cracked during lifting and ripped from the screw hole. We laid the treadmill sideway in the middle of the living room until we could figure out what to do with it. The instruction manual is poor and without a number to call customer service. Amazon CS was great and gave us a Kettler's phone number.
Kettler customer service then told me that it would cost $69 to replace the motor cover and laying the treadmill sideway could damage the motor or the unit. Well, why didn't they say so in the instruction? There should be a big bold print of UNIT MUST BE UPRIGHT. Kettler CS was very professional and helpful. Did I mention that the instruction manual is poor? The text is barely readable and the drawings of the parts are smaller than a dime size. Some parts are also labeled incorrectly on the manual. I had to guess which wire to connect together and since I am used to assembling IKEA furnitures, I was able to figure out this assembly in an hour.
When the treadmill is fully assembled and running, it was making a squeaking sound. The right end cap was too close to the belt and it was literally scraping against the belt. This is clearly a design flaw but customer service said I must have damaged it by laying it sideways and offer to send me a free replacement. Upon looking at it closely, it is a design flaw and not from our mishandling. This treadmill is more headache than fun and I was tempted to just return it. I was able to fix the broken motor cover with crazy glue and some washers for the screws. I "fixed" the end cap by putting more washers under the screws to lift the plastic from touching the belt.
The problem is not entire resolved yet. The treadmill now squeaks elsewhere. It turns out that our floor is not perfectly level. One corner is 1/8" higher. The squeak was so annoying that we had to put some lubricant to deck wheels. It still squeaks quietly when running on flat surface. When on an incline, there are no squeaks.
All in all, given the price of this treadmill I will probably buy a different model next time around. I really want to like this treadmill and did not want to go through the hassle of returning and possibly getting another one with the same problem. What we like about this unit is that it does run very smoothly. It is comparable or better than the treadmills at our gym.
Pro:
Low deck height
Smooth running belt
Excellent customer service
Cons:
Poor instruction manual
Must be placed on very level surface
Heartrate monitor is 50% accurate

I love it!
I specifically bought a model from Fitness Factory because of the lifetime warranty on all parts. I already owned a Body Solid gym purchaced from Fitness Factory 10 years ago and they have always been great about replacing worn out or broken parts with absolutely no hassle.
The TF3i is a solidy built treadmill with great fit and finish. It's appearance is that of a much more expensive model. This is a model without all the bells and whistles. It has only 4 pre-programed programs and will not store custom programs. It also has a basic control panel without all the advanced graphics the more expensive models have but it is also 25% less in price. The folding feature is great because I have a relatively small room for a gym and it only takes 10 seconds to get it ready to run or fold back up for storage.
The TF3i is extremely smooth and quiet in operation. Set up was easy, taking only about half an hour and having only three components to bolt together and the tools were included. You can forget about following the instructions since they were written in China but thankfully on this one it's straight forward enough that there won't be any guessing and even a novice at assemling such things should have no trouble at all. One thing to remember is that it does weigh 200 lbs and it will take two strong people to carry it to wherever you are setting it up in your house. It's shipped by freight like most of these are which means you will be responsible for getting it from the back of the truck to wherever it's going in your house. In my case the driver offered to help even though I was not paying extra for it and he was not required to.
In short this is an excellent machine for someone who is serious about putting in a lot of miles, doesn't care about all the electronics extras and wanys a machine that will last for many years at a reasonable price.Endurance TF3i Folding Treadmill

My proform treadmill came with a missing part. I tryed calling proform customer service with no luck. I even left my phone number so they could call me back, They did not!!
If you buy a proform and have a problem with it , you will spend hours listening to a recording waiting for some one to pick up the phone, they will not!!!
I called Amazon customer service who were great. I am returing the treadmill for a full refund.

ProForm Power 995 Review

I ordered this treadmill direct from Proform. The customer service on the shipping and delivery was very good. I opted for the in home delivery as well. The installers were very nice and professional.
That was the good. Now more about the actual treadmill. I read reviews all over the net, and as it turns out most of the reviews from the factory direct treadmills are simply ads. I even read the reviews on Sears and Dicks for this and the lesser models from Proform. The theme seemed to be "good for the price". And for $899 with free shipping I thought that seemed reasonable. And it seemed to have the right specs and cool features. Once the unit was set up it was clear this is not commercial Gym equipment. The handrails shifted and wobbled terribly. The belt looked like it was ready to curl up and the side panel on the deck came was lose. I started it up and it was fairly quiet. So I started walking and it wasn't bad. Now if I was sure that walking was all I wanted to do, then it would be ok. But then I decided to do a light jog. And as my feet went "thud & rattle" with every step it became clear that running on this thing would be a short lived miserable experience. Now mind you I am all of 150lbs.
Shortly after I got off I went back online and found a nice re-manufactured Precor 966i delivered for $200 more than I paid for this one. I could have also gotten a Star Trac 4500 for the same price or less that the Pro From. Now it took a little shopping and talking, but well worth it. Now you can get the extended warranty on the Pro Form, but I feel confident that you will be using that warranty. Now I will be eating the return shipping cost and restocking fee to return the Pro Form. And once I get this bad boy back on that truck I will be a happy camper. Learn from my mistake.
If you intend to do any running, run away from this one and get a better brand. If you think you need >3HP and 60" because of expected use or your height, keep in mind 60" and >3hp of crap is still crap. If you walk, just find a 2-2.5 HP motor from a better brand. This is just not a good value or piece of equipment. With so many online options available from Amazon, Auction sites and classifieds I see no reason to settle for this unit. And if this is their top unit, I shudder to think about the cheaper models.
Update:
Proform has arranged for the unit to be disassembled, and picked up. So a plus for customer service.

Purchased the pro form trailrunner 2.0 Dec 28th. Looks great and functions appear that they would contribute to a good workout.
The treadmill has never functioned properly since we bought it. After 2 weeks the the authorized repair company was able to stop by for 5 minutes to confirm that the treadmill did not work. The repair company ordered the replacement parts, but the parts are backordered indefintely.
We've been going back and forth with ICON fitness and their customer service to have the unit returned because the parts are on indefinite backorder. Their customer service line averages right around a 45 minute wait time for anyone selecting the option to return equipment. I easily have 4+ hours of hold time with them. Buyer Beware with any ICON Fitness equipment. They are suppose to arranage the RMA at this time, 3 months later. Very disapointed.
Thought the touchscreen and size of the motor would have been a nice touch for $1500. Any kind of customer service or support probably would have resulted in us simply exchanging our broken treadmill for a new one. ICON Customer service is horrible. Sending it back and getting a non icon treadmill.
Hope this helps.
Brett

One day I found out that my husband had inadvertently broken my old Weslo treadmill. Great. He actually "ran" on it. Now what was I supposed to hang my clothes on? After decided to replace it, we visited three local stores: Sports Chalet, Sports Authority and Sears. It's important to physically try out a treadmill before you buy it, and this Esprit ET-8 treadmill was the ONLY one that stood out to me in our price range. It's super quiet, has great cushioning, and can handle my intense strolling as I sip cocktails while watching horror movies. My husband uses it more vigorously, as nature intended. It has fit programs, nice incline, large deck, heart rate monitor, red LCD, magazine rack, and a fancy way of lowering itself (not unlike an electric convertible top). Did I mention how quiet it is? And how cushiony? I honestly think that it's nicer than the bulkier treadmills at the gym, which can tend to be occupied or out of service. By going through Sports Chalet, we were able to pick it up for under $1000 (including tax) on sale. (I recommend getting as much extended warranty as you can afford). It was delivered and set up the next day in half an hour. Note: You'll need the space to accommodate it. It's no space saver, by any means. Folded, it sticks out from the wall about 34". This is a heavy duty treadmill that won't need to be upgraded. We're really happy with it.

"Great price with free delivery from Amazon. Shipping was fast from company called CEVA. Assembly was easy and we had no issues. It is almost fully assembled in the box and the tools are also provided which was nice. Within 45 minutes we were trying it out. The treadmill can be folded while in the box which allows you to break the end of the box and wheel the treadmill out of the box and into its location instead of having to lift it up and out as I first thought that I may have to do. Treadmill has excellent reviews on-line. My wife wanted an iPod connection but told her that it was just something else that could go wrong...the treadmill is in front of a TV and she can wear her iPod if she wants to listen to music. We have only had it for a couple of months but so far so good."

Sole F65 Treadmill (2011 Model) Review

Sole F65 Treadmill (2011 Model)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As a Vine reviewer I'm fortunate to have received a Sole F65 Treadmill free of charge and I'm glad to share my experience with it:
The F65's overall workmanship is solid.
The rubber treadmill surface feels durable and hard enough that you'll want to cushion your feet and legs with sneakers or tennis shoes rather than work out barefoot or in socks.
For the most part there's metal where you want metal and plastic where it's tolerable - with possibly one exception:
That one exception is the folding release lever used to let down the treadmill base after being secured for portability. I think this lever is designed to have some play in it and the plastic may lend itself to that, but I'd prefer metal. It feels mismatched to unlock the heavy treadmill base with a plastic handle, even a solid one. This is a minor point: The lock/release mechanism works very smoothly and, depending on how portable you intend your treadmill to be, you may rarely use the handle.
Some of the bells and whistles on the operating console are very cool: There a mini-jack to connect your mp3 player of choice (or a Walkman for us dinosaurs) to small speakers that sound surprisingly good. They even threw in a short mini jack connector. My treadmill happens to be in an unfinished basement where sound gets lost and I prefer the headphone jack. It's safer to store a player in the console's pockets and run your ear buds off the console jack than to keep the player off to the side or on your person.
Dual cooling fans with an easy to read on/off switch blow right at your face and once the warm weather rolls around should provide pleasant relief.
The design of the bottle holder rack is kind of odd: The F65 comes with a water bottle (nice touch) but it doesn't rest very snuggly in the rack holes. Not a big deal; I can stuff a washcloth or something in there to pad it. Your favorite bottle may fit better.
The console LED display comes with an assortment of programs that vary both speed and inclination. What's important for me is first deciphering how to run the treadmill in manual mode, where I can strictly control the speed and incline resistance without the interference of some program. Once I got a feel of what the treadmill could do and how it responded, I was more comfortable setting the `auto-pilot'.
I've used similar consoles on stationary bikes and had no problem picking up the Sole's. As far as operating the F65, I found the manual much more useful than I did during unpacking and assembly, but more on that later.
The speed and incline controls offer two levels of granularity: the large console buttons are in whole-number increments while the side handle buttons let you to fine-tune your settings in tenths. I found this very useful because the gradual response of the controls - particularly the speed - takes some getting used to for someone like me who's not that experienced with electronic treadmills.
These gradual transitions are by design to avoid injury and more closely emulate the way people do in fact walk, jog and run. If you've ever played with airplane simulator software (or flown the real thing) you know how flight controls can lag in their response.
Applied to the treadmill: If you're striding along at speed level 4 and want to slow down to level 2, be sure to give yourself what feels like 15-20 seconds to get there. The larger the speed interval you're shifting add a bit more time. In contrast, the incline will immediately begin to climb or descend smoothly at a consistent rate of speed so I found it easier to judge how long such shifts will take.
The incline mechanism is really a blast: it feels very realistic, moves smoothly and really intensifies the resistance.
The F65's motor is surprisingly quiet on a concrete floor. If you're in an apartment though, you'll probably want to ask around to see if floor thickness and sound/vibration transfer is going to be an issue. I once lived in a building with parquet floors so crunchy it was mandated tenants install runners along trafficked areas. I couldn't imagine operating a treadmill in such a place without some serious floor padding beneath it.
The F65's folding mechanism allows you to easily raise and lock the treadmill base and wheel the unit around. The base lets down effortlessly to about waist-height where a hydraulic mechanism kicks in to slowly and safely lower it to the ground. It feels sturdy and well-balanced when you're wheeling it, which is important because it's heavy.
A side-benefit (unexpected or not) of the F65's portability is to compensate for drift: After a forty-minute session I noticed the back of the treadmill had fishtailed about 10-15 degrees from its starting position on my concrete basement floor. How much of this can be blamed on the imperfect leveling of the floor versus my favoring one leg over the other, I don't know. It's a minor annoyance I've had with other pieces of equipment but fortunately, the F65 is a breeze to reposition back where I want it.
The treadmill comes with a tube of lubricant (looks like grease) and the manual is actually quite good describing scheduled maintenance and cleaning.
Some Practicalities: It's definitely worth your while to give some thought as to how you'll get the F65 treadmill into your space and assembled. The manual unfortunately, like many others, takes for granted the pieces just magically emerge unwrapped from the box. That's a shame because this is a good-quality product that's packed well for shipping and it deserves better documentation.
Take the following as one guy's experience:
The box is 83" x 37" x 17" deep and marked 255 lbs (the driver told me they weighed it at 275). This is a two-person delivery: Amazon used an in-state company who contacted me and offered convenient Saturday delivery. They showed up promptly and were great to deal with - I really wish I could give them a plug.
I'm in a house and they carried the box straight into the garage. If you're in a condo or a high-rise do yourself a favor: jot those dimensions down, grab a tape, and scope out any doorways, halls, steps, freight elevator, whatever beforehand to save yourself (and the delivery guys) a lot of grief.
(I had an awful time once with a piano and swore never again to utter the words, "I think it'll fit." without being absolutely sure of it.)
The treadmill's final spot in the basement wasn't cleared so the next day I used a small hand truck to get the box from the garage over a single step into the basement. Again a two-person job: my wife held the raised end with the truck while I pushed the box forward and up over the step. (I know, sounds like trouble but it actually went more smoothly then anticipated - and yes, we're still on speaking terms).
Unpacking something like the F65 can be more work than assembling it. With a box this size you'll need more room than the assembled product will occupy so plan accordingly.
Find the top arrow and lie the box down widthwise with at least an equal amount of room beside it. Pry the large staples out of both sides with a screwdriver, clip the nylon bands and lift the front of the box off.
Everything except the treadmill base can be removed and placed aside. Getting the plastic wrap and supporting Styrofoam blocks off of the base will require you to lift the heavy end. Keep a couple of those blocks close by; they'll come in handy later on for the same purpose.
In fact, there's enough Styrofoam in the box to fill 4-5 large garbage bags (unless you want to relive that Flintstones Building Boulders set of your childhood or care to spend time breaking the pieces up). Not to mention - unless you've got kids who love to play in large boxes - it'll take you awhile to cut that box into pieces suitable for the garbage (or at least the private carting around here).
The manual again proved barely adequate for assembly - I'm pretty comfortable putting stuff together but I was stumped in a couple of places:
The resolution of the printed figures and parts was too small compared to the better quality figures describing how to use the treadmill. The exact location of some parts was unclear due to poorly positioned arrows. Identifying which screws and bolts to use where could have been clearer.
Each of two console mast covers is attached using three speed nut clips: Not mentioned is that the front one requires you to prop up the treadmill to put it on. I still have no clue how the middle one and its bolt are meant to be attached (they went back in the bag). Fortunately, the front and rear clips are more than enough to secure the covers.
Two other pieces, the left and right side caps, were mislabeled with tiny `L' and `R' stickers that were reversed (Or are you really expected to judge left/right by standing in front of the treadmill rather than on it? As we say in software: "Not intuitive").
I'd also question the order of some of the steps: I think it would be better to screw the horizontal bar between the main supports in loosely before the supports are fully tightened rather than squeezing the metal bar in which can slip and catch a finger.
All in all unpacking and assembly took a few hours (I left the boxes and Styrofoam for the following week).
What else to say? I'm extremely happy with the Sole F65 and can easily imagine getting many years of reliable use from it.

Smooth Fitness 5.45 Folding Treadmill Review

Smooth Fitness 5.45 Folding Treadmill

Consider buying it from the manufacturer web site (smoothfitness.com). Why? This thing is massive! Read on...
GOOD POINTS: My wife and I use it every day. It is solid as a rock and quiet. We absolutely got our money's worth and I'd buy it again, hands-down.
BAD POINTS: It is MASSIVE! Because we bought this from Amazon, it came shipped to us just like you'd think. But at 200+ lbs, it remained in our garage until five guys from church came and carried it to our basement. Once there, I had to assemble it.
Mind you, assembly is mostly-done for you. But there's work for you to do, and don't make any mistake about it. Setting this thing up takes time and effort, but it's worth it.
ADVICE: buy this from the manufacturer's web site and pay for their White Glove service. If you do, once it arrives someone will lug it to any room in your home and *then* assemble it for you. Trust me on this, just spend the money and let someone else deal with it! Learn from my mistake. If you opt to save money like I did, you will be sorry you did when this thing arrives at the end of your driveway. At least I was.
One last thing: make sure where you put it has an AC outlet nearby. You will need it (this thing needs power). If you do like me and put it in your basement, go out and buy a power-strip (with a 10-foot or more cord) and have it handy, so the installation people can plug it in once it's all assembled. In our case, I even taped-down the power-strip cable to the floor, so you don't trip over it.
Again, once assembled and where it's suppose to be in your home, this is money well spent. I can't tell you enough how solid and reliable it is. Just pay someone else to deal with the set-up hassle and you'll be all set.

Looking for a cost-effective, space-saving treadmill for the home? Look no further than the Smooth Fitness 5.45 folding treadmill, which despite its moderate price tag offers a ton of high-end features. The centerpiece of the Smooth 5.45 treadmill is the dual-stage, soft-drop folding system, which includes a gas shock-assist lift that lets you gently tilt the deck into position and wheel it away for storage. Then, when it's time for your next workout, you can use the convenient foot-operated lever to lower it softly back into place. The treadmill also boasts a 20-by-55-inch Whisper Weave treadbelt. Running treadmills are often extremely noisy, but the Smooth 5.45's Whisper Weave technology helps make this treadmill as quiet as any on the market today. Plus, the treadmill's running surface is as wide as the company's most expensive models. And despite its small size, the Smooth 5.45's stable frame delivers the same smooth, shake-free performance normally found on health club treadmills.
Built for long life and complete silence, the Smooth 5.45's powerful 2.5-horsepower motor is engineered with an advanced Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) circuit board. In conjunction with the optical speed sensors, the PWM virtually eliminates noise and helps the treadmill change speeds smoothly. Perhaps the best feature for frequent runners, however, is the patented suspension running deck, which is proven to lessen the impact of walking and running. The entire running deck and frame is suspended on two pivots, increasing the cushioning and reducing the harmful impact on your ankles, knees, hips, and back.
The Smooth 5.45 also offers a variety of workout programs to keep your body and mind refreshed. The workouts--which are customizable to meet your personal fitness level--include manual, interval incline, interval speed, weight loss, 5K self-learning/competition, and heart rate control. Finally, the treadmill offers nine storable user profiles, which is particularly handy for households with multiple users. Just select your profile and you're set--no need to key in your personal settings before every treadmill workout. The treadmill lets up to nine people save their age, weight, and target heart rate info for instant access. Other features include an intuitive LCD console that tracks your speed, incline, distance, calories, time, and pulse; built-in water bottle holders; and bottom transport wheels.

After searching both online and through local stores, I found this treadmill to be the only one in it's price range with a 22 inch wide (by 60 inches long) running surface, not to mention the 3 HP motor. I was also happy with the lifetime warranty on the motor and deck.
The only cons to this treadmill are that it doesn't fold up and it is extremely heavy. I have read, however, that treadmills that fold up tend to be less stable than those that do not so this may be an advantage. As far as the weight, this also adds to stability once you have it in place.
The manufacturer did not include an instruction manual, which was a mistake, but I was able to find it as well as their contact info online. Their customer service representative was both helpful and courteous.
The treadmill was fairly simple to assemble. It appears to be a well made machine and I am pleased with my purchase.

I bought this treadmill on-line. The instructions were easy to follow for assembly. The workouts are great with the incline of up to 40% grade and decline to a a -6%. The IPOD attachment works great and, I was impressed with the speaker system sound quality. I do not have the IFIT attachment yet, but am going to purchase it to use the google map feature to create my own running workouts. Overall seems to be a durable commercial grade treadmill that I am am hoping will last for many years to come.

LifeSpan Fitness TR4000i Folding Treadmill Review

LifeSpan Fitness TR4000i Folding Treadmill
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the treadmill from a local retailer. Initially, I didn't see any independent user reviews on it so, I thought i would post something. My Projected running usage - Probably 2-3 X a week - average maybe 2 hours / week of running total.
The treadmill has a 20x60" belt with a 3.25 hp motor. Haven't seen any other in this price range with a motor like this one. Although they call the belt orthopedic, I don't think it is particularly thick - but seems fine. Overall, it feels pretty stable and solid (no shaking or motion). The cushioning isn't quite as good as the gym treadmills, but for the $ it's perfectly fine.
I very much like the user-friendliness of the treadmill. It has large well lit buttons, that are very straightforward and easy to use. I like the buttons a lot more than the standard flat buttons you find on most treadmills. My only concern is the durability of the panel. The display is well lit and clear with a lot of nice information - of course it has the standard stuff like incline level, time, heart rate, calories. But it also displays not so standard stuff, like number of steps, age, height, weight (more on this later).
The treadmill programs work a little differently than most of the gym treadmills I have used. They several programs grouped in several areas (e.g. weight loss, sports training, healthy living, etc.). You can select "incline" program or "speed" program for any of the programs. In terms of speed/incline variability - the treadmill pretty much works like any standard gym treadmill - e.g. If you select incline program, the incline will adjust (up and down), while your speed remains constant. Selecting "speed program" adjusts the speed up and down while the incline remains constant. Also, adjusting the incline during the incline program will increase or decrease ALL of the incline levels for the entire workout. The equivalent is true for the speed programs as well. Some treadmills only adjust the bar or "time period" that you are currently in.. I actually like this feature on the 4000i.
I am not sure how these programs were chosen to be in a particular group (e.g. I would like what makes "pyramid climb" healthy living vs. cardio run for weight loss. All of the programs are clearly explained in the manual - i.e. you can see the duration and the level of incline (for incline programs) for each minute of the program (a nice touch!) and the equivalent for the speed programs.
The user defined programs are pretty standard and easy to setup. You can go thru each minute/bar, and change it to the level/speed that you want. The heart rate monitor works really well! The accuracy seems good and it doesn't take a lot of fiddling.
One item that I miss from the gym treadmills is the random feature. It would be nice if it could generate some random incline and/or speed programs.
Another item that I noticed was missing (or at least I can't figure it out) is a way to change the duration/time in the middle of a program?! You can set the duration at the start, but once the program start, you can't change the time/duration of your workout. It seems a little bizarre to me that you can't do this, but it's not a deal breaker.
Ok, one of the big selling points for me was the ability to record and track my work outs and upload them to their system via the USB drive. You can record, the date and time of your workout, with frequent sampling (every 20 seconds, I think), of your heart rate, minutes, calories, distance, steps. I think the concept is terrific - and I like that they were able to include this feature in a cost effective treadmill. However, the implementation is lacking. So, uploading the data, and it does work. However, the website is user-unfriendly, and poorly implemented. Firefox support? nope! you have to use IE. It was developed using 1990's web technology and navigation. So much so, that I am wondering if any of their customers actually use it?? I am a web guy so I guess my standards are higher... The site very much needs an overhaul and update. I won't go into a lot of detail, but here are a couple of quick things about it.
1. Clicking on any of the links (e.g. Weekly View, Today's Workout,USB Update,Manually Log Exercise,Update Vital Stats) gives you a pop up. You wait several seconds for each popup to occur, then you can do whatever function you are looking to do - Totally unncessary and annoying.
2. The "analyze my exercise" is just not formatted well and therefore not easy to follow - the info is all there, just not user friendly and clean. It would be pretty easy to make this graphical and easy to use.
3. Dates - For the life of me, I can not figure out how to set the current date on the tread?! The default date on the treadmill display is always some date in May?? Is the factory set date? When I plug in the usb drive into the treadmill, my weight and height changes correctly, however, the date does not change. It always records that random May date on my usb drive. I just do a global replace manually on the dates using my PC before uploading the myexercise site - there must be something I'm not doing right.
4. My exercise profile. I am assuming since I filled all of this out, that it would create some customized workout for me. It would be nice to have some kind of intelligent recommendations based on all of the stats, supplements, health history that I put in. I still haven't been able to figure it out.
Again, great idea for the website, poor implementation. My thought that this was done more for marketing purposes than to actually serve their client needs. - i.e. mostly vaporware. Thus, don't make a decision to buy this treadmill based on this feature. The good news is that the treadmill works quite well, with other great features.
The speakers are average, but they are what I would expect for any treadmill. The arms have both incline and speed control - (another nice touch) - however, the buttons on the arms are easy to bump and change if you are the kind that likes to rest your hands on them (for heart rate, etc.).
So far, I am pleased overall with the treadmill.
The biggest concerns I have -
- durability (not a lot of reviews on lifespan treadmills, folding treadmill - what tradeoffs were made to make it folding.
- We'll see in a few years. Ideally, I would like to have it last at least 5 years. I am planning on silicone lubing the belt every 50 hours of use and cleaning around the motor and electronics as the manual indicates. I am assuming that this is standard? for most treadmills in this categories.
Happy Treading!
SP

Rated the top treadmill on the market by Health Magazine, the LifeSpan TR4000i folding treadmill is durable, stable, and loaded with valuable features, helping it accommodate serious runners and their training routines. The treadmill is equipped with a 1-inch reversible, commercial-grade deck and aluminum side rails, which combine long-lasting durability with the strength and toughness required by serious home users or light commercial settings. The spacious running surface, meanwhile, measures 20 inches wide by 60 inches long, with a coarse-textured, 2.8mm thick orthopedic belt that provides support, cushioning, and excellent running traction. And to help you track your workout progress, the treadmill automatically saves your exercise data to your USB storage device. Once the info is saved, you can upload it to your personal online LifeSpan Fitness Club account, giving you access to exercise programs and detailed reports of your exercise and health results.
The centerpiece of the TR4000i, however, is the multicolored LCD console, which offers several simultaneous readouts and exercise programs to help you achieve your health and fitness goals. The display tracks your time, calories, distance, steps, heart rate, speed, and incline level, with large soft-touch keys helping you get started and control your momentum. More importantly, the console offers a variety of preset workout programs that help you vary your exercise routine--a critical factor for people trying to get in shape. Many of the workout programs on the TR4000i are grouped by exercise motivation, so you can quickly choose a workout that's right for you. The program categories include weight loss (choose from steady pace, long slow distance, cardio run, short interval, or uphill walk); healthy living (with uphill climb, pyramid climb, plateau climb, ladder, and uphill interval options); and sports training (with seven programs designed to help you train for an upcoming sporting event).
In addition to the preset programs, the treadmill offers two My Zone heart rate control programs and two custom programs. The My Zone Constant program keeps your heart rate at a constant level--thereby using your heart rate as a fitness tool--while the My Zone Interval program lets you enter your own minimum and maximum hear rate. As you exercise, the treadmill speed and incline will automatically adjust to keep your heart rate at the preferred level. By contrast, the custom programs are fully adaptable to your favored workout formula. That's because you're in charge of setting the speed and incline level for each of the 20 program segments, and then saving them for future use.
As a bonus, when you purchase a LifeSpan TR4000i treadmill, you automatically receive a membership for the LifeSpan Fitness Club. This comprehensive online health management program, powered by the Interactive Health Partner, lets you select exercise programs, track and manage your fitness and health results, and receive motivating support as you work toward achieving your goals. The LifeSpan Fitness Club is easy to use: each time you work out on the TR3000i, the treadmill automatically saves your exercise results on your LifeSpan USB storage device. Because the USB device is personalized with your age, gender, and weight, not only do you bypass setup screens, you also receive accurate calorie calculations based on your data. Every 20 seconds during your workout, the console will then record your heart rate, minutes, miles, steps, and calories. After your workout, you simply upload your results to your personalized online account on your computer using the USB device. You'll then have access to a full set of detailed reports and fun facts that you can analyze or share with friends, family, fitness coaches, or physicians.
Other features include a topnotch sound system, with a pair of high-quality, built-in speakers and a headphone port for plugging in your iPod or MP3 player; a large front safety bar that's designed and positioned for easy access; an EZ Drop folding design that lowers the treadmill deck to the ground softly and lightly; an Intelli-Guard automatic safety pause that stops the treadmill belt from moving when no one is walking or running on the treadmill; and such sturdy construction components as a 3.25-horsepower continuous-duty DC motor and an 800-pound central-mount incline motor.

I just got done doing 4 miles on this treadmill, and I can't see any flaws yet in it. My wife is a very light sleeper, and it didn't wake her, so this is a good thing!

The LifeSpan TR3000i folding treadmill is durable, reliable, and loaded with valuable features, helping you walk, jog, or run with confidence in the comfort of your own home. The award-winning treadmill's pleasing design includes safe and convenient handlebar controls, which let you control your speed and incline without ever removing your hands from the handlebars. As a result, you can run or walk without fear of losing your concentration or balance while adjusting your pace. The TR3000i is also built for comfort and power, with a 2.75-horsepower motor, 2.5-inch rollers, a spacious 20-by-56-inch running surface, and a biomechanically sound deck suspension system that supports people up to 350 pounds. And to help you track your workout progress, the treadmill automatically saves your exercise data to your USB storage device. Once the info is saved, you can upload it to your personal online LifeSpan Fitness Club account, giving you access to exercise programs and detailed reports of your exercise and health results.
The centerpiece of the TR3000i, however, is the multicolored LCD console, which offers several simultaneous readouts and exercise programs to help you achieve your health and fitness goals. The display tracks your time, calories, distance, steps, heart rate, speed, and incline level, with large soft-touch keys helping you get started and control your momentum. More importantly, the console offers a variety of preset workout programs that help you vary your exercise routine--a critical factor for people trying to get in shape. Many of the workout programs on the TR3000i are grouped by exercise motivation, so you can quickly choose a workout that's right for you.
As a bonus, when you purchase a LifeSpan TR3000i treadmill, you automatically receive a membership for the LifeSpan Fitness Club.
Other details include a set of built-in speakers and a headphone plug-in, making it easy to listen to music as you walk or run; a large front safety bar that's designed and positioned for easy access; an EZ Drop folding design that lowers the treadmill deck to the ground softly and lightly; and an Intelli-Guard automatic safety pause that stops the treadmill belt from moving when no one is walking or running on the treadmill.
