ProForm 490 C Treadmill Review

This is probably one of the better treadmill's that you are going to find at this price range. In fact, the price is pretty good, as other sites have it for $100 more than what Amazon is offering it at (at least at the time of this review). I picked this one because of the Ipod speakers, the cushioning, and the 25 year motor warranty (Amazon says it's 7 years, but both Pro-Form's site and the instruction manual confirm it's 25 years). It's hard to find that kind of warranty at this price range (most you see will be only 5 years). It took about 1 1/2 hours to put together, and you will need two people to put the thing together. The toughest part is putting on the display/speaker unit on the top, as the screws were brutal to get in. A small electric screwdriver would be nice. The belt was already installed, and needed some minor adjusting.
The treadmill works well. It's not like running on a more expensive model, but there was minimal bounce when I was running on it. The locking mechanism holds the deck up well, but not perpendicular to the floor (it's at an angle).
Overall, not a bad treadmill. I hesitate to give it 5 stars only because I haven't owned it for too long. I will update this more when I have some more hours on the treadmill. By the way, the description mentions a different model (8.0Z?), but it was the Proform 490C that I received.
Update:
Some other thoughts on the treadmill after using it a bit more:
Speaker system for the Ipod is great. Plenty loud enough while exercising. Not much bass, but this is to be expected with such a small system.
Display - It's backlit, and provides info such as time elapsed, miles completed (such as 1.567 miles, etc.), laps completed (includes a display of a track as you complete each lap), current speed, and current incline.
Control panel - Has several nice features, including "quick speed" button where you can press the number MPH (such as 5MPH) and the treadmill will accelerate (or decelerate) to the selected speed directly. You can also input the speed at increments of .1 MPH at a time. I haven't used the incline as of yet, but it is adjustable through a panel button as well.
Exercise program - There is a "Weight Control Center" app that runs when selected via the Control panel. You enter your weight, calorie burn goal, and the appropriate program is selected for that goal. There are also a variety of other programs outside of the Weight Control Center that can be chosen as well, all with a variety of incline and speed.
Folding of deck - Really easy, doesn't fold completely flat, but supported well and does the job.

LifeSpan Fitness TR 3000-HRC Treadmill Review

"Great price with free delivery from Amazon. Shipping was fast from company called CEVA. Assembly was easy and we had no issues. It is almost fully assembled in the box and the tools are also provided which was nice. Within 45 minutes we were trying it out. The treadmill can be folded while in the box which allows you to break the end of the box and wheel the treadmill out of the box and into its location instead of having to lift it up and out as I first thought that I may have to do. Treadmill has excellent reviews on-line. My wife wanted an iPod connection but told her that it was just something else that could go wrong...the treadmill is in front of a TV and she can wear her iPod if she wants to listen to music. We have only had it for a couple of months but so far so good."

About Treadmills Walking is still considered one of the most beneficial cardiovascular exercises for people of all ages, body types, and fitness levels. As a fundamental form of aerobic training, walking has numerous physical benefits for the heart, lungs, and circulatory system, while also increasing muscle tone and burning fat calories. Treadmills provide a convenient way to regularly exercise in all weather conditions in the comfort and safety of your own home.
From beginners just starting an exercise regimen to advanced athletes looking to maintain their fitness level, anyone interested in getting and staying in shape can benefit greatly from regular use of a treadmill. Treadmills allow you to determine the pace, distance, and complexity of the workout based on your needs, all while watching television, talking on the telephone, or reading a magazine. Much easier on sensitive joints like the knees and hips, treadmill walking and running surfaces are typically long, padded platforms that allow ample room for a long stride and comfortable, low-impact walk or jog without the harsh contact of a concrete surface.
While many different types, styles, and price ranges of treadmills exist, many of them offer unique features like a fold-up design for easy storage, an electronic display monitor showing speed, distance, workout time, incline level, and burned calories, and EKG grip pulses to monitor the heart rate while exercising. Regardless of the simple to complex features you may choose, treadmills offer an array of aerobic exercise opportunities that will provide long-lasting beneficial cardiovascular results without a commute to the gym or a jog in the rain.

Nautilus T516 Treadmill Review

Nautilus T516 Treadmill
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been using this treadmill since Jan 03, 2010. It was delivered on a wood pallet and left in my driveway. It weighs around 220 lbs and you definitely need at least two if not three people to move this to whatever room you need to assemble it in. I'm 29 yrs old,6ft tall and 195lbs and I ordered this because I needed the treadmill to accommodate my stride at a full sprint and be able to support my weight. This treadmill has been able to do all of this with room to spare. This is a heavy duty treadmill and it provides a right amount of cushioning and dampens the impacts of running and my knees and ankles don't take to much of a beating after my sessions. There are a couple of issues though that I don't like about the treadmill. The treadmill makes an audible beep after every minute that you have been running. This is not a deal breaker but like many of you out there I try not to pay too much attention on the elapsed time and cover the display with a towel but that "beep" always lets me know that another minute just went by and it just annoys me that I can't turn that off. Also, there are only five buttons for the speed selection, 2,4,6,8,10. It goes up a liitle faster than 10 but those are the buttons that are on the main display. I like to do interval training and run from 6.5 mph to 11.5 back and forth. So I have to do a lot of button pressing to achieve this. There are to many increments that this machine goes off of.For example at the gym treadmills to go from the previous stated speeds, 6.5 to 11.5 and back, from 6.5 i would just be able to punch in 1-1-.-5-enter and I am running at 11.5mph. On this treadmill from 6.5 to 11.5 I have to press, 10,enter,and manually increase the speed by a tenth of a mile from 10mph,10.1,10.2,10.3,10.4,10.5,10.6,10.7,etc. until I get to 11.5mph. So this is pretty tedious especially when I have been doing a couple of rounds and I'm getting tired. I probably wouldn't have bought this treadmill if I had known about these two issues but the treadmill still gives me the ability to train on it aggressively and not have to worry that its going to break. Overall a good piece of gear.

LifeSpan Fitness EL3000i Elliptical Trainer Review

LifeSpan Fitness EL3000i Elliptical Trainer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Our budget was $1000-$2000 range. We needed something that was not as big as some of the units at health clubs but wanted something solid (not a Gazelle type product), and this one fit the bill for me (6'1") and my wife (5'7"). I would say that we are moderate users and our anticipated usage is 6-8 hours per week.
It took me about an hour to assemble by myself and was simple and straightforward. We are very impressed with the machine. It is very simple to use (GREAT CONSOLE), very smooth, and extremely quiet!
The built-in pre-programmed routines offer a nice range and the Fitness Club has been nice for my wife and I to monitor and track our programs. Our daughter is now home from college and she is using it as well and plugs her iPod into the console and listens to music thru the USB port.

We both really enjoy the arm motion and it feels very natural compared to pushing / pulling motion of the other units that we tried at The Sports Authority. We are very pleased with our purchase and decision to commit to a healthier lifestyle.

Enjoy the benefits of a total body workout with little impact on your joints and back with the LifeSpan Fitness EL3000i elliptical trainer. Outfitted with a 20-inch stride length and narrow pedal spacing, the EL3000i supports your natural walking motion, with converging handlebars that let your arms flow naturally and with a greater range of motion as you exercise. For added comfort, the space between the treadmill's handlebars narrows as you extend your arms forward and then widens as you swing them by your side. And users will love the blue gel pad in each pedal, which is designed to absorb the impact from your heel. The pads provide ample cushioning to make your elliptical exercise more comfortable, yet safe for your hips, knees, feet, and joints.
The centerpiece of the EL3000i, however, is the multicolored LCD console, which offers several simultaneous readouts and exercise programs to help you achieve your health and fitness goals. The display tracks your time, calories, distance, steps, heart rate, speed, and resistance level, with large soft-touch keys helping you get started and control your resistance level. More importantly, the trainer offers a variety of preset workout programs that help you vary your exercise routine--a critical factor for people trying to get in shape. Many of the workout programs on the EL3000i are grouped by exercise motivation, so you can quickly choose a workout that's right for you. The program categories include weight loss (choose from steady pace, long slow distance, cardio run, short interval, or uphill walk); healthy living (with uphill climb, pyramid climb, plateau climb, ladder, and uphill interval options); and sports training (with each program designed to help you train for an upcoming sporting event).
In addition to the preset programs, the trainer offers two My Zone heart rate control programs and two custom programs. The My Zone Constant program keeps your heart rate at a constant level--thereby using your heart rate as a fitness tool--while the My Zone Interval program lets you enter your own minimum and maximum hear rate. As you exercise, the elliptical resistance will automatically adjust to keep your heart rate at the preferred level. By contrast, the custom programs are fully adaptable to your favored workout formula. That's because you're in charge of setting the resistance level for each of the 20 program segments, and then saving them for future use.
As a bonus, when you purchase a LifeSpan EL3000i elliptical trainer, you automatically receive a membership for the LifeSpan Fitness Club. This comprehensive online health management program, powered by the Interactive Health Partner, lets you select exercise programs, track and manage your fitness and health results, and receive motivating support as you work toward achieving your goals. The LifeSpan Fitness Club is easy to use: each time you work out on the EL3000i, the trainer automatically saves your exercise results on your LifeSpan USB storage device (included). Because the USB is personalized with your age, gender, and weight, not only do you bypass setup screens, you also receive accurate calorie calculations based on your data. Every 20 seconds during your workout, the console will then record your heart rate, minutes, miles, steps, and calories. After your workout, you simply upload your results to your personalized online account on your computer using the USB device. You'll then have access to a full set of detailed reports and fun facts that you can analyze or share with friends, family, fitness coaches, or physicians.
Other details include an 8-inch step-up height that makes it easy to get on and off the trainer, built-in speakers and an integrated headphone jack, and front-mounted wheels for easy transport. The EL3000i measures 28 by 61 by 52 inches (W x H x D), supports up to 300 pounds, and carries the following warranties: lifetime on the frame and brake, three years on parts, and one year on labor.
About Elliptical Trainers Elliptical trainers represent the next wave of advancement in low-impact cardiovascular exercise machines and continue to grow in popularity. By simulating motions experienced through walking, stepping, cycling, and skiing, elliptical machines allow for a smooth and fluid motion while building strength in the arms and legs. Similar to the exercise position for treadmills, elliptical trainers are used by standing in an upright position while holding the handrails of the machine. With elliptical trainers, however, your feet remain in the foot pedals throughout the exercise regimen and circulate in a smooth and seamless motion, resulting in little to no impact on the knees, back, and hips.
Elliptical trainers are compatible for all ages and fitness levels and allow you to select the difficulty level through the incline and intensity settings. Additionally, elliptical trainers allow you to determine the complexity of your workout based on your needs, all while listening to music, watching television, or reading a magazine while exercising in the comfort and safety of your own home.
Although different types of elliptical trainers offer an assortment of features, many of them include an array of challenging programs, forward and reverse directional movement, EKG grip pulse handles, a lightweight portable design with easy fold-up capability, and a monitor displaying calories burned, distance, speed, time, and heart rate. Other types of exercise machines, namely treadmills and bikes, offer excellent cardiovascular exercise and muscular training for the legs in a forward-motion exercise. Elliptical trainers take this to the next level by offering an upper and lower body workout with dual motion, challenging and diverse programs, and a low-impact exercise machine that won't strain sensitive joints.

Life Fitness Club Series Treadmill Review

Life Fitness Club Series Treadmill
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The actual mechanism that runs the treadmill is super-solid, but the manufacturer LifeFitness seems to have a problem making touch-screen buttons. When you push the buttons on the LED, some of them won't work; others will work after extremely hard pushing. It's a constant annoyance, say when you're running and want to start slowing down. You're forced to use the more conventional buttons on that central handlebar thingie.
Not my imagination, either. My gym has about 15 of these, and I've probably used all of them over the months since they got them. They all have this problem. Same goes for LifeFitness's elliptical trainers and stationary bikes: they all exhibit functionality problems with the on-screen buttons.
I'd love to see the company respond to this review. Are they gonna argue that I don't know how to push a button?

It's equipped with the FlexDeck Shock Absorption System, a patented system that reduces shock and impact to the knees, back, and joints by nearly 30 percent compared to other treadmills. And because the Lifespring™ shock absorbers found in the FlexDeck are nearly indestructible, the flex experienced during the first use will be the same flex experienced in all subsequent workouts, even years later.
All Life Fitness treadmills offer interactive heart rate monitoring and HeartSync heart rate controlled workouts, which automatically adjust the resistance based on your heart rate feedback via the Lifepulse digital contact heart rate sensors on the arms or via the included Polar wireless chest strap. Simply choose any HeartSync program and the treadmill incline automatically adjusts in 0.1 percent increments to keep you in your target heart rate zone. The patented Lifepulse digital heart rate monitoring system uses three separate technologies to digitally filter noise that may disrupt the reading of your true heart rate, so you're sure to get a safe, effective workout every time.
Boredom is never an option with Life Fitness treadmills, with a wide variety of challenging workout programs built into the easy-to-use console. Save time by storing up to seven pre-programmed My Workouts, and replay them at any time. Rename them for different days of the week or different users in your household. Your weight and incline levels are automatically saved, and you can also store personal results for each workout to keep track of your progress. Based on your workout's specific time, incline and heart rate level, a customized cool-down program helps to ensure your heart rate properly returns to a normal level at the end of a workout. You can also conveniently change programs without restarting or losing your current workout information. This treadmill comes with the following programs to choose from:
Manual: Gives you complete freedom to choose your own speed and resistance levels.
Hill: Challenges you with intervals of multiple hills and valleys with each hill becoming progressively more difficult.
Random: Includes many different motivating combinations of hills and valleys.
Time-Based Goal: For a time specified by the user, this workout used 1.5 percent incline as the baseline to accurately simulate running outdoors on flat ground. Anything below a 1.5 percent grade is then used to simulate running downhill. The inclines and declines last between 30 and 60 seconds. The goal of the workout is to help users train for outdoor running.
Distance Goal: This workout is designed to build endurance. The objective is to cover a certain distance in miles. Once the objective is met, the workout automatically transitions into a cool-down phase and ends afterwards.
Calories Goal: This workout is designed to promote weight loss and weight control. The objective is to burn a certain number of calories in The selected time duration. Once the objective is met, the workout automatically transitions into a cool-down phase.
Time in Zone Goal: Console displays the accumulated time in your target heart rate zone.
Speed Interval Training: Intensity levels quickly alternate between high and low levels to simulate a typical speed workout.

It also includes the following HeartSync workouts:
Fat Burn: A great workout for beginners or for those days when you need a lighter workout. It automatically adjusts resistance to maintain your heart rate at 65 percent of your theoretical maximum.
Cardio: Maximizes caloric burn and boosts your energy level. It automatically adjusts resistance to maintain your heart rate at 80 percent of your theoretical maximum.
Heart Rate Hill™: An interval workout made up of three hills with each hill becoming progressively more difficult based on your heart rate goals. The first hill is 70 percent of your maximum heart rate (HRMax) and becomes progressively tougher (75 percent HRMax on the second and 80 percent HRMax on the third). The valley is always defined as 65 percent HRMax. It's similar to training for sports activities such as hockey, basketball, and soccer.
Heart Rate Interval™: Climb a series of alternating hills (80 percent HRMax) and valleys (65 percent HRMax). The number of times you climb each hill depends on your fitness level. It's similar to training for endurance activities such as triathlons and running.
Extreme Heart Rate™: Quickly raises and lowers resistance to get your heart rate up to 85 percent HRMax and down to 65 percent HRMax as quickly as possible. It's similar to training for sports activities such as tennis, racquetball, football, and sprinting.

About Life Fitness What started as one man's pursuit to improve his own physical condition, eventually turned into a global fitness revolution. That man was Keene P. Dimick, the mastermind behind the legendary Lifecycle® exercise bike. The story of Life Fitness began when two young entrepreneurs, Ray Wilson and Augie Nieto, saw the promise of Dr. Dimick\'s invention. Even though it was slightly ahead of its time, they believed the Lifecycle exercise bike could help generations of athletes, trainers, exercisers, and people everywhere live happier, healthier, and more fulfilling lives.
Wilson and Nieto bought the rights to the Lifecycle bike from Dr. Dimick, perfected it, and sold it out of a motor home to health clubs across America. Despite the overwhelming odds and initial unpopularity of the Lifecycle exercise bike, the two passion-filled pioneers turned a two-man operation and a seemingly impossible vision into a prosperous reality. Along the way, they shaped the future of Life Fitness as well as the fitness industry, bringing cardiovascular training into the mainstream and helping ignite the health club boom.
Today, Life Fitness is the global leader in designing and manufacturing a full line of reliable, high quality fitness equipment for commercial and consumer use. It is the number one brand of fitness equipment in health clubs worldwide.

Comfortable and light running shoe! Works well with my orthotic insert, giving me enough space at the toes, yet not too wide unlike the Etonic Jepara.
One down side - too much mesh on top toe area which lets the "rain" in... thus having the potential of damp socks/wet toes!!

Wow, all I can say about these shoes is, wow! I can't tell I'm wearing a safety toe shoe. I have never been able to find a safety shoe that didn't hurt my feet until now. These shoes are so comfortable, I no longer change out of them when I have some place to go after work. I used to bring tennis shoes with me & change after work, but I no longer need to do that. Buy these shoes, you won't regret it!

I am a person who walks at least 8 miles a day for exercise. Of course I am retired, so I have ample time to walk 2-2 1/2 hours a day. My right foot is arthritic and I also have a bunion. Because of this, I use running shows for my exercise routine because of the support and comfort they provide.
When I seen and read about Skechers, I figured I would give them a try. But at a retail price of $115.00, there was no way I would invest that kind of money into a walking a show. However, I found these shoes on Amazon; and with all the discounts, I got them for between 35-40% off. So I decided to take a chance.
When I first laced up my new Skechers and took my first few steps, I noticed a difference right away. You have to go slow with these shoes until you can get use to a new way of walking. You will need acquaint yourself with a new sense of balance because of the design and height of the sole. The weight of the shoe is also a factor. Once you get past that, you will notice that these shoes are very comfortable.
One thing I will caution people who purchase these shoes is to ease your way into a walking routine; and don't be like me and go hog wild the first day. You need your leg muscles to get use to a new way of walking. You will be using muscles you don't normally use with a regular shoe.I made the mistake of doing my usual 8 miles and paid the price the next few days. I ended up straining my left leg above my ankle.
After a few days of going back to my regular shoes and then easing the Skechers into my walking, I have not experienced any additional discomfort in my leg. So if you decide to purchase these shoes, heed my warning and go slow.
Will these shoes accomplish what they are marketed to do is still unknown as far as I'm concerned? But, with a little transition time and a little patience you may find them as comfortable as I do.

I walked 30 min am and 30 min pm daily, the first week I got these. I had no break in period. If you follow the instructions and keep your shoulders back, chest up and eyes forward, you will be in the position to create the rocking, rhythmic, motion that will work all the muscles you want worked; and help you keep your balance. One caution- making sudden changes in direction can knock you off balance. I needed to go up a half size. My lower back felt terrific due to the extra cushioning the Shape Ups provide when walking on hard concrete. Sadly, it is too icy and slippery to wear during our Winter weather. Highly recommended.
